Role Description
As a Software Development and Engineering Co-op at Comcast, you will be part of a forward-thinking team focused on designing and developing next-generation Virtual Agent solutions for Comcast Business Small and Medium Business (SMB) customers and Xfinity residential users. This role offers a unique opportunity to explore and apply cutting-edge AI technologies in a real-world, high-impact environment.
What are some interesting problems the student will work on?
You will work alongside experienced engineers and researchers to evaluate and integrate advanced AI capabilities, including:
+ State-of-the-art speech models for natural and intuitive voice interactions.
+ Vector search technologies to enhance information retrieval and contextual understanding.
+ Agentic AI frameworks to enable autonomous, goal-driven virtual agents capable of handling complex customer interactions.
Where can this student make an impact?
Your contributions will help shape a scalable, cost-effective, and intelligent Virtual Agent platform that improves customer experience and operational efficiency across Comcast’s service lines.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Provides research and assistance to leadership in the development and design of new projects.
+ Collaborates with project stakeholders to identify product and technical requirements. Conducts analysis to determineintegration needs.
+ Designs new software and web applications, supports applications under development and customizes current applications.
+ Assists with the software update process for existing applications and roll-outs of software releases.
+ Participates in training representatives and operations staff on internally developed software applications.
+ Researches, writes and edits documentation and technical requirements, including software designs, evaluation plans, testresults, technical manuals and formal recommendations and reports.
+ Monitors and evaluates competitive applications and products. Reviews literature, patents and current practices relevant to thesolution of assigned projects.
+ Provides technical leadership throughout the design process and guidance with regards to practices, procedures andtechniques.
+ Works with Quality Assurance team to determine if applications fit specification and technical requirements.
+ Displays knowledge of and ability to apply, project management skills.
+ Consistent exercise of independent judgment and discretion in matters of significance.
+ Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtimeas necessary.
+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred** **Skills
+ Programming Proficiency: Strong foundation in Python; familiarity with libraries such as PyTorch, TensorFlow, or Hugging Face Transformers.
+ Machine Learning Fundamentals: Understanding of supervised and unsupervised learning, model training, evaluation, and deployment.
+ Natural Language Processing (NLP): Exposure to NLP techniques including text classification, entity recognition, and conversational AI.
+ Speech Technologies: Basic knowledge of speech-to-text and text-to-speech systems; experience with tools like Whisper, DeepSpeech, or similar.
+ Vector Search & Embeddings: Basic knowledge with vector databases (e.g., FAISS, Pinecone, Weaviate) and embedding models for semantic search.
+ Agentic AI Concepts: Awareness of autonomous agents, planning systems, or frameworks like AutoGPT, LangChain, or OpenAgents.
+ Cloud & APIs: Experience working with cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure) and integrating RESTful APIs.
+ Version Control: Proficiency with Git for collaborative development.
+ Preferred Majors: Computer Science, Computer Engineering
Minimum** **Qualifications** **and Eligibility Requirements
+ Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.
+ Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting March 30, 2026, through September 18, 2026.
+ Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
+ Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting
