Organization** **& Team** **Overview
We are the Network Facilities Solutions Team, under the Network Facilities & Energy organization. We are a team of 35 software developers, spread across the US and internationally, supporting 8 tools. Our tools are a mixture of vendor applications, and home-grown tools. We write code, scripts, troubleshoot and have lots of fun as a team. If you want to be part of one of the best and innovative teams supporting Comcast’s 1,700 critical infrastructure sites, then this is your chance to grow and learn!
Role Description
What are some interesting problems the student will work on?
You will be working on different projects such as adding features to our National Navigation Map, enhancing automation with integrating devices into our Critical Infrastructure Monitoring and Telemetry System. Also In your role, you will help bridge the gap between development and operations. Develop scripts and utilities to automate data collection from multiple data sources.
Where can this student make an impact?
You’ll be working with the best and brightest minds in Comcast while we roll out enhancements and automation for NFS Toolsets. Success in this role is characterized by a higher speed to market, with fewer outages.
Job Responsibilities
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
+ Assist in automating manual workflows and processes to improve team efficiency and reduce operational overhead.
+ Refactor and optimize existing codebases to enhance performance, readability, and maintainability.
+ Collaborate with senior engineers to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues across various projects.
+ Participate in code reviews and contribute to the development of best practices and coding standards.
+ Document technical solutions and implementation details to support knowledge sharing and future development.
+ Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Preferred** **Skills
+ Proficiency in **Python** for scripting, automation, and backend development tasks.
+ Experience working with **relational and/or NoSQL databases** , including writing queries and understanding data modeling concepts.
+ Familiarity with **basic cybersecurity principles** , such as secure coding practices, authentication, and data protection.
+ Understanding of **version control systems** like Git for collaborative development and code management.
+ Ability to learn and apply **software engineering best practices** , including testing, debugging, and documentation.
+ Preferred Majors: Software Engineering, Computer Engineering
Minimum Qualifications and Eligibility Requirements
+ Currently pursuing a bachelor’s degree from Drexel University, with a cooperative learning track.
+ Available to work 40 hours per week for 6 months starting March 30, 2026, through September 18, 2026.
+ Authorized to work in the United States with no current or future sponsorship needs
+ Available to report in-person to the work location on the job posting
