Charlotte Hungerford Hospital is a 122-bed, general acute care community hospital located in Torrington, Connecticut, that serves as a regional health care resource for the 100,000 residents of Litchfield County and Northwest Connecticut. CHH offers personalized attention from an expert team of caregivers and physicians that utilize advanced technology and clinical partnerships in a convenient, safe and comfortable patient environment. *Job Summary* Provides temporary practice, pending results of the licensing examination for a period not to exceed 90 calendar days after the date of graduation. This temporary practice privilege automatically ceases upon notification that the graduate nurse has failed the licensure examination or once the 90 calendar days after the date of graduation has past*and*required licensing is still pending Under the direction and general supervision of a licensed Registered Nurse, the Graduate Nurse utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the State Nurse Practice Act, policies and procedures of the hospital. The Graduate Nurse participates in developing a plan of care, which includes standards of practice to meet the physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family. *Job Responsibilities* 1. Provides nursing care under the direct observation of a licensed registered nurse and in collaboration with an interdisciplinary team to provide a plan of care for patients according to their physical, emotional, spiritual, cultural and educational needs of the patient and family. 2. Provides holistic patient centered care. 3. Utilizes evidence-based practices in accordance with the hospitals policies and procedures to provide safe quality care and customer service. 4. Incorporates the art, advocacy, science and ethics in nursing effectively in their daily practice. 5. Evaluates and appropriately revises the plan of care according to the patient and family needs on a continual basis. 6. Learns to identify and reliably documents problems and expected outcomes based on a plan of care for complex, multi-varianced population of patients. 7. Maintains confidentiality of all patient information. 8. Assumes responsibility for self-improvement in collaboration with the leadership team by identifying, communicating and seeking resources or instruction/validation to meet own learning needs, and is self-directed in maintaining currency of validations. 9. Embodies the HHC leadership behaviors and effectively utilizes the HHC operating model. 10. Enrolls and actively participates in the Nurse Residency Program. Engages in activities that promote a transition into practice. 11.
