    Location Description

    Michael foods, Inc. located in Chaska, Minnesota is known as the "best small town in Minnesota" with a highly rated school system and home of the PGA Tournament in 2018!     Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY** **:

    This position is responsible for receiving and unloading of all incoming raw potatoes.

    JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** **:

    1. Setup, operate and maintain potato washing, unloading and sorting equipment.

    2. Ensuring that the proper potato variety and amount is sent to the correct hopper.

    3. Minimizing recovery loss during the unloading process and accurately record losses on paperwork.

    4. Perform visual inspections & pre-operational audits on unloading equipment and storage bins.

    5. Understanding the truck delivery schedule and communicating any schedule problems.

    6. Carrying out pre-dump inspections on all potato loads and totes. Product not meeting acceptance criteria must be communicated to Raw Receiving Supervisor.

    7. Performing all of the tests for Raw Receiving and accurately filling out the paperwork.

    8. Ensure proper removal of foreign material during the unloading process and communicate unusual foreign material findings to supervisor, including glass, metal, brittle materials, excessive amounts of corn cobs or rocks, etc. and taking the appropriate action to segregate the affected potatoes and prevent from entering the plant.

    9. Effectively communicating relevant information to fellow employees on the shift and to on-coming employees at shift change.

    10. General cleaning of equipment and maintaining good housekeeping throughout the department per the daily sanitation checklist.

    11. Adhere to safe work practices, follow GMP’s, maintain sanitary conditions and ensure that product quality is maintained. Report to management any conditions or practices that may adversely affect food safety, food quality or personnel safety.

    12. Perform other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications

    JOB QUALIFICATIONS** **:

    EDUCATION:

    High school diploma or general education degree (GED) or equivalent.

     

    **EXPERIENCE** :

    Raw Receiving Experience Preferred

    5 years Machine Operating Preferred

    COMMUNICATION SKILLS:

    In order to promote a manufacturing environment that is safe and efficient for both personnel and food, the ability to effectively communicate in basic English (both verbal and written) is required. This includes the ability to speak, read and comprehend safety instructions, rules and warnings for self and others in both normal and emergency situations.

    LANGUAGE SKILLS:

    Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.

    MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:

    Ability to add and subtract two digit numbers and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using units of American money and weight measurement, volume and distance.

    REASONING ABILITY:

    Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, and diagram or schedule form.

    The pay range for this position is $21.40 to $22.48 per hour.
