The Paralegal faculty at NHCC is at the forefront of excellence in paralegal education. NHCC’s Paralegal Program has been approved by the American Bar Association for over 35 years. Responsibilities:
+ Primary teaching responsibilities include teaching courses in litigation, legal research and writing, and other specific practice areas such as Family Law, Criminal Law, Torts, and Estate Planning, as needed.
+ Revision and development of instructional materials as well as assessment of program and student outcomes with particular focus on HLC criteria and American Bar Association requirements.
+ Participation in discipline, division, and college matters through service on committees and attendance at regular meetings, as well as continued professional development.
+ Flexible to teach day, evening, or weekend sections.
+ Dedication to excellence in teaching and the desire to become part of a creative, vibrant, student-centered learning community.
+ Will practice contemporary teaching strategies, including learner outcome assessments and synchronous online instruction.
+ Availability to teach classes online in a synchronous and asynchronous format and meet during daytime hours, in the evenings, on weekends, and online.
+ Continue the professionalism of an active scholar, participate in departmental and campus-wide matters to enhance their disciplines, promote interdisciplinary discourse and collaboration, and advance the college's mission.
Minimum Qualifications
_Educational Requirements_
Bachelor’s degree in paralegal or legal studies, or a bachelor’s degree and 30 semester credits in paralegal or legal studies, or a graduate law degree.
_Occupational Experience Requirement_
Three full-time (or equivalent) years of verified related paid work experience in the legal field.
_Recency Requirement_
One year of this work experience shall be within five years immediately preceding the date of application for this credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) post-secondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Preferred Qualification
+ J.D. with experience as a paralegal or managing/supervising paralegals.
+ Experience teaching in an American Bar Association–approved paralegal program.
+ Experience teaching at a community college.
+ Demonstrated innovative use of assessment techniques.
+ Demonstrated ability to thrive working with diverse communities.
+ Experience as a paralegal or managing paralegals.
