About the Role:
As a Truck Driver within the Durable Goods Manufacturing industry based in Elk Point, SD, you will play a critical role in ensuring the timely and safe transportation of manufactured goods to various destinations. This position requires operating a variety of commercial vehicles, including dump trucks, tractor trailers, and box trucks, to deliver products efficiently while adhering to all safety and regulatory standards. You will be responsible for maintaining the vehicle in optimal condition, performing routine inspections, and addressing any maintenance needs to prevent delays. The role demands strict compliance with Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations to guarantee safety on the road and protect company assets. Minimum Qualifications:
+ Valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) Class A.
+ Proven experience operating commercial trucks including tractor trailers, dump trucks, and box trucks.
+ Comprehensive knowledge of DOT regulations and safety standards.
+ Ability to perform routine truck maintenance and inspections.
+ Strong understanding of safe driving practices and defensive driving techniques.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience within the durable goods manufacturing or related logistics industry.
+ Familiarity with GPS and route planning software.
+ Additional endorsements on CDL such as hazardous materials or tanker endorsements.
+ Demonstrated ability to manage time effectively and handle unexpected delays or route changes.
+ Basic mechanical skills for minor truck repairs and troubleshooting.
Responsibilities:
+ Operate commercial vehicles such as dump trucks, tractor trailers, and box trucks to transport durable goods to designated locations safely and on schedule.
+ Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections to ensure vehicle safety and report any mechanical issues promptly.
+ Comply with all DOT regulations, including hours of service, weight limits, and safety protocols to maintain legal and safe operations.
+ Maintain accurate logs of driving hours, vehicle inspections, and delivery records in accordance with company policies and regulatory requirements.
+ Coordinate with dispatch and warehouse teams to optimize delivery routes and schedules, ensuring efficient and timely deliveries.
Skills:
The required skills such as truck driving and holding a CDL Class A license are fundamental for operating various commercial vehicles safely and efficiently on a daily basis.
