JOB SUMMARY
The Director, Category Management – Linen, Terry and Filled Goods, US & Canada is a part of the lodging product and continent procurement team which is responsible for taking ideas into implementation across all brands, disciplines, and continents, and reports to the Sr. Dir, US/CN Procurement. This role will be responsible for driving best-in-class category management and strategic sourcing for linen, terry, amenities, filled product and other rooms related categories. The Director drives adherence to and communication of Marriott procurement policies and processes, serves as a point of escalation for issues, delivers effective communications at all levels (including to executive leadership), and leads cross-functional teams on projects and procurement initiatives. As a key member of the Procurement team, this leader will partner closely with corporate, continent, and discipline leaders to develop and execute procurement strategies, enhance supplier governance and drive responsible sourcing and financial sustainability.
CANDIDATE PROFILE
Education and Experience
_Required_
+ 4-year bachelor's degree from an accredited university in Business Administration, Finance, Hotel Management, or related sector.
+ 10+ years of business, finance and/or procurement experience. Deep technical knowledge of category management and strategic sourcing.
+ Strong project/program management skills and ability to independently manage multiple projects simultaneously
Proven ability to lead and develop a high-performing team
+ Demonstrated ability to create strategy and implement change in a highly matrixed cross-discipline environment.
+ Ability to travel up to 30%
_Preferred_
+ Graduate/post graduate degree.
+ Strong understanding of category drivers within the rooms manufacturers categories and creation of but not limited to category management plans.
+ Ability to create multi-year strategies based on data analysis stakeholder feedback and clearly promote the strategy to property management and operational teams.
+ Robust understanding of the Rooms categories within the hospitality industry, including but not limited to Textiles, Amenities and OS&E
CORE WORK ACTIVITIES
+ Act as a strategic procurement business partner to brand and lodging product business disciplines, with direct oversight of and rooms manufacturers categories, providing guidance on category management, strategic sourcing, policy and risk management.
+ Establish, refine, and implement category management and sourcing strategies for procurement across the enterprise, ensuring alignment with discipline partners and company objectives.
+ Monitor demand patterns and category spend, cost benchmarks, and industry trends to identify potential high-performing suppliers, advise on competitive dynamics, and proactively work with stakeholders to modify strategies to meet enterprise-wide requirements, manage risk and optimize costs.
+ Identify and develop strategies to mitigate potential risks within the supply chain, ensuring business continuity and stability.
+ Lead and optimize supplier relationships, ensuring quality and cost-effectiveness.
+ Recommend and champion new sourcing strategies, process improvements, and supplier partnerships for the enterprise.
+ Develop and manage timelines, resources and cross-functional teams to implement sourcing strategies and initiatives.
+ Provide thought leadership and end-to-end ownership of sourcing events for major operations initiatives.
+ Utilize effective internal tracking mechanisms and measurements to monitor the competitive bidding process.
+ Apply strong analytical and communication skills to lead and assist others in managing all aspects of competitive bids, including analyzing and scoring multiple proposals, creating corresponding business cases (including financial reports), and presenting clear and concise summaries of recommended options.
+ Enforce governance frameworks for supplier onboarding, performance management, and contract compliance.
+ Collaborate across corporate, continent, and discipline teams to align procurement strategies with broader enterprise goals.
+ Ensure procurement strategies align with corporate sustainability goals, ethical sourcing standards, and supplier diversity initiatives.
