**Description** Emory University’s Oxford College invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor ofChinesestarting August 2026. We seek a teacher-scholar invested in the liberal arts to teach first- and second-year undergraduates. The successful applicant will teach three courses,includingone introductory and one intermediate Mandarin languagecourse, each semester. Other courses may include afirst-semester Discovery Seminar,Mandarin language for heritage speakers,courses in their area(s) of interest,and an introductory courseinEast Asian culture.The successful candidatewill mentor undergraduates through advising, undergraduate research, and other work; will provide institutional and professional service; and will engage in an active program of scholarly research.

One of Emory University’s four schools partnering in undergraduate education, Oxford College providesapproximately 1000first- and second-year students of high academic profile an intensive liberal-arts program for the first two years of their Emory bachelor’s degree. Qualifications
_Required:_ A Ph.D. inChinese literature,culture, linguistics,or a related field, by August 2026;native ornear-nativefluencyinMandarin andin English;experience teachingundergraduate courses in Mandarin language and East Asian culture; interest in undergraduate mentorship; a scholarly agenda with demonstrated potential for successful publication; strong interest in institutional and professional service.
**Preferred Qualifications** Commitment to teaching and learning in a liberal arts environment;demonstratedpotential to develop new courses that will help first- and second-yearstudents explore their pathways at Emory and beyond; experience mentoring and/or advising undergraduates.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
