    Reporting directly to the Assistant Vice President and Chief Legal/Labor Counsel, the Chief Diversity Officer oversees and manages the Office of Diversity, Compliance, and Equity Initiatives. The Chief Diversity Officer serves as a Special Advisor to the President and Chief Legal/Labor Counsel and is responsible for implementing the college’s vision for diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging across the College through programs, events, workshops, training, and initiatives.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + **Leadership and Strategy:** Oversee the design and implementation of initiatives that lead to new policies, procedures, and programs with college-wide impact, addressing both internal and external issues related to diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

    + **Collaboration:** Promote an inclusive and supportive environment for all members of the College community by collaborating with various departments and divisions across the campus.

    + **Policy Implementation:** Ensure the implementation of the City University of New York’s Policy on Equal Opportunity and Non-discrimination policy and oversee the creation of diversity, equity, inclusion, belonging and compliance programs and initiatives for faculty, staff, and students.

    + **Consultation:** Provide counsel to the College's administration, faculty, and staff on equal employment opportunity and affirmative action policies, procedures, and compliance issues, while fostering the integration of better practices to achieve compliance.

    + **Recruitment and Compliance:** Direct search committees regarding recruitment and hiring efforts for a diverse faculty and staff, monitor employee recruitment and selection to ensure compliance with EEO/AAP policies and plan, and oversee the investigation of discrimination complaints.

    + **Training and Development:** Plan and coordinate educational and training workshops on EEO issues, policies, and procedures, and collaborate with key departments on diversity issues, EEO/OFCCP compliance, and faculty-related complaints.

    + **Reporting:** Oversee the preparation of internal and external reports regarding the College’s equal employment opportunity and affirmative action efforts, including the federally mandated Affirmative Action Plan.

    + **Confidential Support:** Handle matters of the greatest confidentiality, providing support and guidance to Chief Legal/Labor Counsel and senior staff.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    This position is in CUNY’s Executive Compensation Plan. All executive positions require a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree and eight years’ related experience.

     

    Must be a current CUNY employee.

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

    Advanced degree and/or experience in a relevant field, prior experience working in a university setting, demonstrated leadership in advancing diversity, equity, and inclusion, experience conducting investigations and writing investigative reports in EEO/AA, Title IV and Title VII and knowledge of affirmative action, and EEO regulatory requirements, excellent communication skills, advanced analytical and project management skills, ability to handle sensitive situations with diplomacy, strong organizational and problem-resolution abilities, critical thinking, decision-making, interpersonal skills, prior supervisory experience, and the ability to work effectively with a diverse community.

    COMPENSATION AND BENEFITS

    $150,000- $165,000
