Texas A&M International University (TAMIU), a member of the Texas A&M University System, welcomes applicants for an Instructional Assistant Professor of Counseling Psychology to begin Fall 2026.

This is a non-tenure-track instructional assistant professor (3-year appointment with the potential of renewal based on annual evaluations and performance). Primary duties will include teaching undergraduate courses for the Psychology program, and graduate courses for the Counseling Psychology program. Providing individual and group clinical supervision for practicum and internship students. Supporting Counseling Psychology graduate students in meeting licensure requirements as outlined by MPCAC and TBHEC. Duties also include participation in program-related activities, including admissions, student advising, orientation, and community and university outreach, as well as service on departmental, university, and professional committees; and active participation in departmental, college, and university initiatives. This position requires face-to-face interactions through a regular schedule of attendance on campus and in the workplace.
The Department of Psychology and Communication offers a BA in Psychology, an MS in Psychology, and a MA in Counseling Psychology.
Required Qualifications
The successful candidate must hold a Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, or a closely related field, at the time of appointment. An active clinical license (LPC or LP) to practice counseling and supervise students in the State of Texas is also required. We strongly encourage candidates with a well-established professional identity as a counselor or psychologist and demonstrate a potential for excellence in teaching (academically and clinically) and providing research support.

Financial support for professional development opportunities, such as attending academic conferences, is also provided. Moving expenses are covered in whole or in part by the university.
