Description:
Holy Cross Hospital in Fort Lauderdale, Florida is a full-service, non-profit Catholic hospital, sponsored by the Sisters of Mercy and a member of Trinity Health.
• Job Summary:
Candidate will be response for assisting in ordering supplies and equipment; Providing clinical perfusion under direct supervision of the surgeon and anesthesiologist, the bypass circuit is
constructed in accordance to the OR standards of sterile technique. The patient is then
placed on bypass; Clinical perfusion is met according to calculated flows determined by the patient's
weight, height, age and cardiac index; Interprets various parameters, blood gas values, electrolyte balance, blood pressure, urinary output, gas and blood flow and fluid shifts. Information passed on to the surgeon
and/or anesthesiologist; Assists in the post operative phase; Prepares equipment such as cardiac monitor system, oxygen tank and intravenous fluids for safe transfer from the OR; Assists the anesthesiologist in transfer of patient to critical care unit; Participates as a team member in the care of the patient undergoing open heart
surgery and assists the nurse in pre-op preparation of the patient; Assists the anesthesiologist during induction; takes competent actions to ensure patient's safety; Provides ventricular assist and long term support devices as necessary; the application and operation of the ventricular assist and/or long term support device is
undertaken with the guidance of the surgeon and/or anesthesiologist; Participates in other extracorpeal procedures as able; Conducts calibration with documentation of GEM-6 blood gas and electrolyte analyzer. Lab
values are utilized for cardiovascular cases; Operates cell salvage system routinely for cardiovascular cases; Hemo concentration unit incorporated into extracorpeal system on request of surgeon or
anesthesiologist; Assumes on-call responsibilities as necessary.
This is a Per Diem position on rotating shifts with NO benefits.
Job Requirements
Education:
+ Graduate of an accredited school of Perfusion.
+ High School Diploma
Experience and Skills:
+ Previous experience as a Perfusionist is required
+ Excellent organizational skills, focused on customer service
License:
+ Certified Clinical Perfusionist (CCP) required.
