Primary Accountabilities
The Material Specialist Utility person will support material requirements through the movement or transfer of material to and from the dock to inventory storage locations. Responsible for inventory accuracy by performing material moves, material counts, and material pulls to support manufacturing orders and Kanban replenishment. The material specialists will be responsible for the movement of raw materials and finished goods to support the production lines. Loads, unloads and moves materials within or near plant, warehouse, storage facility or work-center.
+ Responsible for material movement into and out of the facility
+ Responsible for loading sweep trailers with finished goods
+ Responsible for unloading steel from carriers within the steel warehouse
+ Responsible for the accurate issuing and storage of material within the stockroom, warehouse and production lines
+ Reads and understands work orders or follows oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved
+ Coordinates with Supervisor, Team leader, Planning, Purchasing, and Quality to identify and resolve material issues as it relates to shortages, overages, and material damage or loss.
+ Opens containers using steel cutters, crowbar, hammer, or other hand tools as required
+ Loads and unloads materials onto or from pallets, trays, racks, and shelves by hand or motorized equipment
+ Manages kanbans to ensure accurate and timely delivery to production. Ensure kanbans are filled and returned to production to support build plans.
+ Able to use motorized equipment such as crane and forklifts for loading & unloading material to carriers.
+ Transports materials to or from storage or warehouse to designated areas on the manufacturing floor, by using hand truck, electric dolly, forklift, or other motorized and manual equipment
+ Accurately counts, weighs, and records materials to support inventory goals and objectives
+ Able to use devices such as inventory scanners to accurately process material and ensure transactions are made in the business system
+ Supports process improvements, RIE’s, VSA’s and communicates issues to help find solutions to team and company objectives
+ Communicate effectively any issues associated with the release of material. Coordinate with all team members in the manufacturing environment concerning material requirements
+ Supports 5’s lean initiatives to support and sustain and organized and safe work environment
