    Duties Description The candidate must be comfortable with high level interactions and have an ability to work a variable schedule with on-call capacity to cover special events. Successful candidates will be adept at collaboration and delegation. The incumbent will report to the Executive Chef and be responsible for a variety of duties involved in food preparation and cleaning of the kitchen after preparation and serving while maintaining high standards of cleanliness, as well as the operation and maintenance of the kitchen facilities. Duties include but are not limited to:• Assist Executive Chefs with preparing and executing meals.• Develop, select, and modify recipes to meet high quality standards.• Oversee, assign, and prepare a variety of meals, dishes, snacks, and hors d'oeuvres.• Design, prepare, and decorate foods and artistic arrangements for formal functions.• Oversee and assist with serving meals and refreshments.• Report needed maintenance or faulty equipment to Executive Chef.• Assist Executive Chef in ordering and receiving of all food and supply orders.• Ensure compliance with nutrition and sanitation regulations as well as safety standards.• Maintain a working knowledge of current cooking trends and best practices.• Maintain a clean and organized kitchen, refrigerators, and storerooms.• Operates and maintains kitchen equipment as instructed.• Washes, stacks, sorts, and stores dishes, glassware, utensils, and cookware while maintaining a clean kitchen and keeps dish area organized and free of clutter.Operational Needs:• Ability to work a variable schedule including nights, weekends, and holidays with on-call capacity to cover special events.• Ability to bend, lift, climb, stand, and walk for long periods of time.• Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. • Possession and maintenance of a valid Driver’s License issued by the NYS Department of Motor Vehicle is required, or otherwise demonstrate the capacity to meet the transportation needs of the job.

     

    Minimum Qualifications Four years of specialized experience* in food service, hospitality, grounds, maintenance, or a related field. *Substitutions: An associate degree my substitute for two years of specialized experience. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for four years of specialized experience.Preferred Experience:• Experience as a prep cook, cook, catering/banquets with an excellent record.• Experience with performing sensitive tasks discretely and confidentially.• Communication and leadership skills.NOTE: IN ORDER TO AWARD THE PROPER CREDIT FOR WORK EXPERIENCE, RESUMES MUST INCLUDE MONTH AND YEAR FOR START AND END DATES. IF ANY OF THIS EXPERIENCE IS LESS THAN FULL TIME YOU MUST INDICATE THE AVERAGE NUMBER OF HOURS WORKED PER WEEK.
