Description
Amazon is seeking an experienced Senior Manager to lead our Technical Standards & Excellence team responsible for developing installation specifications, standard work, and quality control systems for our field operations teams. This role will establish the foundation for operational excellence in our facility launches, driving innovation through robotics, instrumentation, and AI while building comprehensive tracking mechanisms that ensure world-class installation quality. The successful candidate will lead a growing team that serves as the central point of contact for building handoff activities with RME and Operations, while establishing rigorous benchmarks that extend component and asset life.
Key job responsibilities
- Lead the development of comprehensive installation specifications and standard work documentation that reduces field team improvisation and ensures consistent, high-quality implementations
- Create and implement project tracking mechanisms with equipment fingerprints that compare installation guidelines against design specifications for sorters, control panels, and other critical equipment
- Apply precision maintenance fundamentals to add benchmarks and numerical rigor to installations, establishing tolerances on par with Japan Amazon launches
- Build performance metrics for cost, quality, safety, and speed across all projects to drive continuous improvement and operational excellence
- Drive innovation through robotics, instrumentation, and AI to improve installation quality while reducing build time and cost
- Develop a reliability tracking system in partnership with RME to extend component and asset life (e.g., extending bearing life from 3 to 10 years)
- Serve as the main point of contact for all building handoff activities with RME and Operations
- Lead and develop a growing team in a young organization
- Create the operational foundation for RME PM structure.
Basic Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related technical field
- 10+ years of experience in technical operations, engineering, or quality management
- 7+ years of people management experience, including managing managers
- Demonstrated experience developing technical standards, specifications, and quality control systems
- Track record of implementing data-driven performance metrics and continuous improvement initiatives
- Experience with precision maintenance methodologies and reliability engineering
- Strong project management skills with the ability to coordinate complex, cross-functional initiatives
Preferred Qualifications
- Master's degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or related field
- Experience with robotics, automation systems, or advanced manufacturing technologies
- Background in reliability-centered maintenance and asset life extension strategies
- Knowledge of Amazon's operational models and fulfillment center technologies
- Experience implementing AI or advanced instrumentation for quality control
- Six Sigma Black Belt certification or equivalent quality management credentials
- Strong data analysis and visualization skills with the ability to translate metrics into actionable insights
- Experience in startup or new site launch environments

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $141,400/year in our lowest geographic market up to $233,800/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company.
