The Materials Management Specialist acts as a liaison with internal and external stakeholders for inventory activities. This role is responsible for providing accurate and efficient logistical support for the movement, storage, control, and protection of raw materials, supplies, work-in-process products, and finished goods.
Responsibilities
+ Work with cross-functional teams (Manufacturing Operations, Donor Center, and Quality Assurance) to receive, inspect, release, store, monitor, issue materials internally, and ship finished goods to customers.
+ Ensure final disposition of materials and finished goods takes place as per established processes and procedures.
+ Schedule and perform cycle count activities, ensuring counts are carried out accurately and on schedule.
+ Investigate and troubleshoot inventory discrepancies reported during cycle counts, and update the designated metric report.
+ Monitor storage space availability within the area and make recommendations for improvement as needed.
+ Participate in the review and updating of material handling Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and company guidelines.
+ Assist with the development and maintenance of the Manufacturing Operation’s metrics.
+ Assist with training of existing and new employees as well as recruitment activities of new material handlers, as requested.
+ Comply with company policies and adhere to safety requirements when handling materials and/or working in designated areas.
+ Ensure equipment is maintained to the highest standards operationally and report any discrepancies to the direct manager.
+ Support management with continuous improvements towards optimization and efficiency of the material handling operations.
+ Participate in special projects and perform other duties as required.
+ Perform responsibilities with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when required.
+ Proactively perform material handling activities as needed, including shipping and receiving, inspection, tagging, packaging of materials, and maintaining the shipping area.
+ Pick, pull, and package materials prior to internal issuance and/or off-site shipping.
+ Handle finished goods materials under Cryo-frozen conditions according to procedures.
+ Familiar with basic inventory management systems including FIFO and Kanban.
+ Perform quality control inspections for incoming raw materials per applicable procedures.
Essential Skills
+ Minimum of 5 years of experience in material handling and lab management.
+ Experience with electronic and paper-based inventory control systems.
+ Knowledge of Quality standards such as ISO9001.
+ Ability to write Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
+ Strong understanding of ERP systems and inventory transactions.
+ Strong computer skills and knowledge of Excel.
+ Physical ability to move moderately heavy and/or bulky material.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience with handling cryo-frozen materials is an asset.
+ Working knowledge of creating pivot tables is an asset.
Work Environment
This position is onsite in Emeryville with flexible working hours, Monday through Friday.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Emeryville, California.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $35.00 - $38.00/hr.
