Position Title: Truck Body & Weld Repair Technician
Summary:
This position is responsible for preparing, repairing, and finishing metal components and cabs to Class “A” quality standards. This role involves precision hand and power tool work, welding, inspection, and refinishing to ensure that all components meet company and customer quality expectations. The ideal candidate has strong technical skills, a meticulous eye for detail, and experience in automotive or heavy equipment body repair.
Key Responsibilities
Perform metal finishing and surface preparation to Class “A” standards on both painted and unpainted cabs.
Hand-work sheet metal, grinding, buffing, DA sanding, and other methods to remove imperfections.
Set up and execute complex and simple assembly operations on benches, floor fixtures, or production lines.
Operate hand and power tools, including welders, grinders, sanders, and plasma cutters, safely and effectively.
Inspect components in accordance with Inspection Instruction Sheets to ensure compliance with quality standards.
Use precision measurement tools to verify repair and assembly accuracy.
Diagnoses, repair, and rework cab and component damage to meet company quality standards.
Maintain tools and equipment in optimal working condition.
Support team objectives, continuous improvement initiatives, and daily production meetings.
Ensure the production area remains clean, organized, and compliant with housekeeping and safety standards.
Follow all OSHA and company safety regulations, including PPE requirements.
Mentor and train new hires.
Qualifications
High school diploma or GED required; technical or vocational training in auto body repair preferred.
Minimum 2 years of experience in auto body repair, metal finishing, welding, or related trade.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to precision workmanship.
Proficiency with grinders, welders, sanders, and other repair tools.
Knowledge of body shop repair processes, materials, and safety protocols.
Ability to troubleshoot and problem-solve effectively, both independently and in team settings.
Must be able to maintain regular and reliable attendance
Able to work all shifts, as assigned, daily overtime, and/or doubles could include weekends.
Proficient computer skills
Must have a valid Driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (CDL preferred)
Solid written and verbal communication skills
Ability to follow written plans and procedures
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States
Preferred Skills
Experience repairing cabs for heavy equipment, trucks, or industrial vehicles.
Certifications such as I-CAR, ASE, or welding certifications.
Familiarity with robotic or automated repair systems.

For this position, the base pay is set at $31.52/ hour, and where applicable, bonus eligible. The range for this role, as well as final salary offered, is determined by several factors including, but not limited to, geographic location, work-related knowledge, certifications, skills, education, and experience.
