    The University of Miami/UHealth Department of SCCC has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time Sr. Research Associate 2 to work at the UHealth campus in Miami, Fl.

    CORE JOB SUMMARY

    The Senior Research Associate 2, SOM ensures that the operations of the assigned laboratory are efficient and in compliance with applicable guidelines and regulations. Moreover, this employee engages in complex and specialized research activities in furtherance of the University’s research goals and objectives.

    CORE JOB FUNCTIONS

    Contributes to basic and applied research activities by collecting and analyzing data and maintaining databases. Understands and interprets research protocols and procedures. Participates in the publication of significant results. Advances expertise through continued education, training, and research. Maintains an overview of relevant research findings. Ensures all research is undertaken according to good research practice. Stays abreast of developments in the field which may impact department functions. Provides guidance, mentorship, and oversight to junior research staff and students. Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets.

    CORE QUALIFICATIONS

    Education: Master’s Degree in relevant field

     

    Experience: Minimum 1 year of relevant experience

    Knowledge, Skills and Attitudes:

    + Skill in collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.

    + Ability to recognize, analyze, and solve a variety of problems.

    + Ability to exercise sound judgment in making critical decisions.

    Department Specific Functions

    Dr. Wendy Lichtenthal’s research lab focuses on research on grief, bereavement, end-of-life care, and psycho-oncology. The Senior Research Associate will make contributions to the Center for the Advancement of Bereavement Care, which is dedicated to advancing bereavement science, training, and care, in the Sylvester Comprehensive Cancer Center and to Dr. Lichtenthal’s research laboratory in the Department of Public Health Sciences in the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. Specific functions include: Conducts research on specific areas of study as assigned. Investigates the feasibility of applying a wide variety of scientific principles and theories. Maintains substantial knowledge of state-of-the-art principles and theories. Assists with the development of interventions, training curricula, and educational materials as well as related research initiatives. Prepares literature reviews and grant applications. Assists with research-related operational tasks, including preparation of regulatory documents, recruitment and consenting of research participants, coordination of participants’ research activities, delivery of study interventions, and management and analysis of data. Assists with administrative tasks for awarded grants. Prepares research reports, technical papers, and review papers for publishing. Develops advanced analytical models and systems and provides solutions and analyses to support strategic and tactical decisions.
