Job Title: Quality ManagerJob Description
This position reports directly to the Plant Manager and is responsible for leading the plant’s quality team, which includes both professional staff and lab technicians. The Quality Manager also plays a key role in driving continuous improvement efforts related to product quality. They work closely with internal technical services and research & development teams to ensure the plant consistently meets high standards for food safety and product quality.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure the facility adheres to all required quality and safety standards during production, storage, transportation, and distribution of ingredients and finished products.
+ Verify that all products made at the plant meet food safety and quality requirements before they are released to customers.
+ Provide backup coverage by ensuring a trained quality team member can take over responsibilities when necessary.
+ Lead the plant’s Quality Pillar as part of the leadership team, supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
+ Serve as the SQF Practitioner for the facility, managing the Safe Quality Food (SQF) system.
+ Develop and maintain the Food Safety Plan and Food Quality Plan, ensuring all food safety fundamentals are in place and followed.
+ Manage programs that cover basic safety and cleanliness requirements (Pre-Requisite Programs), critical safety and quality limits, monitoring of key safety and quality points, and sampling/testing of raw materials, in-process items, and finished products.
+ Schedule and conduct regular internal audits to verify systems are working properly and standards are being met.
+ Take action to protect the integrity of the food safety and quality system and communicate important updates and requirements to all relevant staff.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in food science, quality management, and quality management systems.
+ Knowledge of GMP, Audit, Root cause analysis, Quality assurance, and Quality control.
+ A B.S./M.S. in Food Science/Dairy Product Technology or a technical equivalent such as Food Microbiology or Chemistry with relevant industry experience.
+ Five to ten years of QA/QC industry experience practicing Quality Systems Management at a food manufacturing facility.
+ Strong management, planning, organizational, and formal writing skills to work on technical journals and policy.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Education in GMP, SQF, TQM & HACCP, 6-sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
+ Experience in dairy manufacturing.
+ Experience in designing, setting up, and running a full quality assurance function.
+ Memberships in professional organizations.

This is a Permanent position based out of Wooster, Ohio.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $65000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
