Job Title: Mechanical Engineer
Job Description
We are seeking a dedicated Mechanical Engineer to join our dynamic team. Under the guidance of the Project Manager, the Mechanical Engineer will apply mechanical theory to design and specify HVAC systems and system processes. The role involves completing energy code compliance documentation, conducting energy analysis, participating in coordination meetings with design team members and clients, corresponding with vendors and contractors, performing site surveys, observing construction projects, editing specifications, and reviewing submittals.
Responsibilities
+ Possess or actively learn various HVAC systems.
+ Coordinate clearances and fit for all MEPT systems.
+ Calculate HVAC load estimates for various spaces, buildings, and processes.
+ Conduct site surveys and prepare reports and studies.
+ Prepare construction cost estimates.
+ Design air distribution systems including ductwork design, layout, and sizing, and select grilles, registers, and diffusers.
+ Design hydronic, steam, and refrigeration systems including piping design, layout, and sizing, and select central plant equipment.
+ Design and specify building automation control systems.
+ Maintain licensure through continuing education requirements.
+ Proficiently use Codes and Standards such as the International Building Code, International Mechanical Code, ASHRAE, and NFPA.
Essential Skills
+ Proficiency in Revit.
+ Licensed Professional Engineer (PE).
+ 5+ years of HVAC Design experience.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in project types including K-12, higher education, industrial, municipal, corporate, hospitality, and historical preservation.
+ Experience as a Project Manager or willingness to focus on engineering and design.
Work Environment
The position is based in a standalone office building in downtown Indianapolis, complete with its own parking. This is primarily an in-person role with some flexibility for remote work when necessary. The company is family-owned, offering a supportive and familial work atmosphere. Benefits include a high deductible plan with an HSA, covering 60% of premiums, vision and dental coverage, a 401k with safe harbor 3% contribution regardless of employee input, $25,000 life insurance, and generous time-off policies including 2 weeks of vacation, 1 week of sick time, and 2 personal days. Employees enjoy 6 paid holidays and work summer hours from Memorial Day through Labor Day (4 days of 9 hours and 1 day of 4 hours).
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Indianapolis, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $48.08 - $57.70/hr.
