Job Title: Systems Engineer

Job Description

The role of the Systems Engineer focuses on supporting unmanned, manned, and optionally piloted aircraft platforms, as well as unmanned ground vehicles. The successful candidate will be involved in all project phases, from definition and design to testing, ensuring a cradle-to-grave experience. This position requires the ability to develop requirements, create system design documentation, maintain existing analytical models, and develop new models. Additionally, the candidate will plan and conduct tests to validate requirements.

Responsibilities

+ Analyze customer and stakeholder requirements.

+ Decompose and derive requirements, allocating them to system and subsystem elements.

+ Develop system architecture for new and existing systems.

+ Conduct trade studies and perform design research to determine optimal requirements and system architecture.

+ Develop test plans, cases, and reports based on requirements documentation.

+ Create system/subsystem interface definitions, system schematics, and system design documentation.

+ Lead and conduct testing as applicable.

+ Work in adherence to structured and defined development processes.

+ Collaborate with the Software Engineering Team to develop software system requirements and test requirements.

+ Participate in planning, design, testing, and deployment of engineered systems and software to ensure conformance with functional specifications and customer needs.

Essential Skills

+ Bachelor’s or master’s degree in aerospace, electrical, or mechanical engineering.

+ 5-7 years of industry experience, with a preference for experience in the Defense and Aerospace industry.

+ Experience in aircraft is a must; experience in unmanned aircraft is a plus.

+ Ability to obtain a U.S. DoD Secret Clearance or higher.

+ Self-directed with sharp analytical abilities and excellent communication skills.

+ Technical leadership capabilities and a results-oriented mindset.

+ Experience developing system requirements and architecture in conjunction with the engineering team.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 3-5 years of experience is acceptable in Round Rock, Oklahoma City, or Sacramento due to additional training resources.

+ Familiarity with operational test execution and exposure to schematics.

+ Experience with tools such as DOORS, Altassian, Cameo, and Requirements Yogi.

Work Environment

Candidates have the option to work from various locations including Round Rock, Sacramento, Tehachapi, Crane, Oxford Michigan, Jupiter FL, Baltimore, MD, or Huntsville. A SCIF facility is available in Sacramento, alongside a traditional facility. Candidates located in Dallas need strong software and hardware test experience to support embedded development teams. The position may require 25-50% travel, with minimal travel for those stationed at a site with testing capabilities. The work environment supports both traditional systems and operational test execution.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $60.00 - $95.00/hr.
