QA Inspector
Job Description
Ensure that all products released for distribution comply with applicable specifications. Ensure that all materials in the warehouse are appropriately identified by status and stored properly. Only released materials should be used in production, and all materials must be appropriately sampled, tested, and meet specifications before their use in production.
Responsibilities
+ Ensure compliance with applicable SOPs.
+ Ensure compliance of manufacturing with Batch Record Instructions and requirements.
+ Receive and sample all raw materials and components for appropriate testing.
+ Manage the quarantine and release of finished products for shipping.
+ Ensure all items in the plant, including raw materials, components, packaging, labels, finished products, reject materials, and rework materials, are labeled and stored in accordance with SOPs.
+ Administer the label program.
+ Inspect production lines.
+ Handle sampling, storage, and status labeling of pallets of incoming materials until tested for compliance with specifications and released for use.
+ Conduct appropriate sampling and storage of finished products until tested and released for production.
+ Review batch records to ensure only released ingredients, components, and labeling are used in production.
+ Assist the Quality Manager in product investigations where deviations have occurred in manufacturing or when complaints or product failures have occurred.
+ Maintain label inventory, issue labels to production, return labels to inventory, and facilitate reconciliation of label inventory.
+ Inspect production lines, checking for PPE, labels, codes, weights, and compliance with product specifications.
Essential Skills
+ 1+ years of quality inspection experience in a GMP environment required, 3+ years preferred.
+ High school diploma required.
+ Computer skills to work within the QMS/Database; basic skills or experience in a similar system (SAP or equivalent ERP).
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Prior experience with raw material sampling and production line checks is strongly preferred.
Work Environment
The role follows a Monday - Friday shift from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, with moderate overtime (4-6 hours weekly) and the possibility of working one Saturday a month. Flexibility to cover for the night shift inspector may be required. The team consists of three inspectors and a supervisor, and collaboration with production and warehouse personnel is essential. The work environment includes both an office setting and production and warehouse environments, which can be dusty due to powdered or animal feed-based products. Sampling duties are typically performed one day a week, constituting 80% fieldwork and 20% office work, while other days involve 70% office release work and 30% inspections and auditing.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saint Louis, Missouri.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $25.00 - $26.00/hr.
