             Seeking Forklift Operators in La Vergne, TN Job Description As a Forklift Operator, you will be responsible for pulling orders to ensure efficient shipment to customers, managing Direct Ship Ports, Truck Load Reports, and other shipping functions as trained and required. Your role also involves moving parts from the Market Area to Assembly Lines, supplying weld cells with necessary parts and materials for final assembly, and transporting finished racks and parts to designated areas within the plant. Responsibilities + Inspect racks for damage during unloading and cleaning. + Clean old labels from empty racks. + Inspect shipments for damaged or improperly adjusted racks. + Check trailers for items such as wood, metal, and holes before loading. + Pack service parts to prevent damage during transportation, following packaging instructions where available. + Ensure bar code labels on racks match part numbers on manufacturing labels and are in good condition for scanning. + Pull parts from stock in FIFO (first in first out) order for shipment staging. + Learn and practice proper material handling functions, including supplying correct parts to assembly lines. + Report production activities when picking up and setting down racks. Essential Skills + Experience in forklift operation, material handling, and sit-down forklift operation. + Tow motor experience. + 3-4 years of experience in a manufacturing environment. + Ability to lift 50 lbs without mechanical assistance. + Good basic math knowledge. + Strong verbal and written communication skills. + Excellent organizational and coordination skills. + Completion of tow motor training and certification prior to job commencement. Additional Skills & Qualifications + High School Diploma or GED equivalent. + Experience with pallet jack, production, order picking, and tow motor is beneficial. Why Work Here? Work Environment The position is set in an automotive manufacturing environment, operating onsite at a Tier 1 supplier facility. The facility follows a Just-In-Time production model, requiring high skill levels due to narrow forklift paths and space constraints. The environment involves robotic welding, which may result in smokey conditions and sparks. Work hours include a 1st shift from 6am to 2:30pm, with potential extensions based on demand, and a 2nd shift from 6pm to 2:30am with possible extensions. The workload is currently high due to increased volumes. Job Type & Location This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Smyrna, Tennessee. Pay and Benefits The pay range for this position is $19.86 - $19.86/hr. Eligibility requirements apply to some benefits and may depend on your job classification and length of employment.
