Job Title: Electrician (1st Class)
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Electrician (1st Class) with a strong electrical background to join our team. The candidate will be responsible for reading and interpreting work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics, as well as troubleshooting complex problems on electrical equipment and systems. The role also involves writing reports, ordering materials, and reporting any abnormal conditions, whether safety or mechanical related.
Responsibilities
+ Read and interpret work specifications, blueprints, technical manuals, and schematics.
+ Write reports and order materials.
+ Report any abnormal conditions, including safety or mechanical issues.
+ Troubleshoot complex problems on electrical equipment and systems.
+ Run cabling into ships without performing pin connectorization or live terminations.
Essential Skills
+ Strong understanding of electrical theory and how electricity works.
+ Experience with troubleshooting, wiring, and meter reading.
+ Minimum of 6+ years as a marine electrician with a stable job history.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience working with cableways, MCTs, and cable routing.
+ TWIC card required to work at Portsmouth Marine Terminal or ability to be escorted.
+ Minimum of 3 years of experience as a shipfitter.

Work Environment
This position is based in a shipyard environment, specifically at locations like Little Creek and NOB. The work involves working aboard ships, focusing on repairing and refurbishing electrical lighting, communications, and other systems that operate off electrical power. The role requires a strong commitment to attendance and work ethic.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $18.00 - $28.00/hr.
