Description

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Payroll and Accounts Payable Specialist to support the financial operations of a government agency in Tukwila, WA. This contract role is ideal for professionals with experience in public sector finance who thrive in a fast-paced, compliance-driven environment.

Payroll Duties:

+ Process bi-weekly payroll for agency staff in accordance with state and federal regulations.

+ Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.

+ Respond to employee inquiries regarding payroll, deductions, and timekeeping.

+ Assist with payroll audits and reporting.

Accounts Payable Duties:

+ Review and process vendor invoices and employee reimbursements.

+ Ensure timely and accurate payments in compliance with agency policies.

+ Reconcile AP transactions and maintain vendor files.

+ Assist with month-end closing and financial reporting.

General Duties:

+ Collaborate with HR, Finance, and other departments to ensure data accuracy.

+ Maintain confidentiality and security of financial and personnel data.

+ Support internal and external audits as needed.

Requirements

Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field preferred.

Minimum of 2 years of experience in payroll and accounts payable.

Familiarity with government accounting practices and systems.

Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., Workday, Munis, or similar).

Strong organizational and communication skills.

Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
