The Senior Engineer, Asset Management will develop engineering solutions to complex issues, serve as a subject matter expert on substation equipment issues to groups within and outside of Asset Management, and provide mentoring and guidance to other engineers.
Senior Engineer will lead and oversee critical Asset Management driven projects as well as resolving urgent issues that place customers out of service or posing a significant impact to system reliability.
**Location:** Woods Run Complex in Pittsburgh, PA
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
+ **Asset Strategy** : Develop replacement strategies for protective relay and control assets within Transmission and Distribution substations. Work closely with Protection Engineering to plan and scope upgrades of legacy relay and control panels and associated devices.
+ **Maintenance Planning** : Manage maintenance and testing programs for protection system, automatic reclosing, and sudden pressure relay devices in compliance with NERC regulatory standards. Monitor, trend, prioritize, and provide technical support in the troubleshooting and corrective maintenance of substation protective devices. Prioritize work within projects and programs and work with Schedulers, Asset Management, and System Planning to coordinate job scopes. Identify opportunities for improving efficiencies in maintenance practices to reduce spend.
+ **Trouble Support:** Lead the investigation, mitigation, repair, and communications throughout the duration of the restoration of urgent or emergent trouble events. Complete root cause analysis, as required, and recommend remediation action or actions working with Supply Chain, Workforce Development, and/or Engineering.
+ **Customer Excellence:** Interface with industrial and commercial customers to plan, maintain, and upgrade equipment at customer substations.
+ **Work Management System** : Update Work Management System (i.e., Maximo) accordingly as assets are installed, removed, replaced, including creation of work orders, assets, and job plans. Manage work order, requisition, and expense approvals within the Work Management System.
+ **Leadership:** Mentor less experienced engineers in scope development, design, maintenance practice, and work management processes and decisions.
+ **Storm Support** : Support restoration activities associated with power outages due to storms. Other emergent work may require evening and overnight support throughout the length of the event.

Education and Experience Required:
+ Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited university or college
+ Minimum of 10 years of relevant work experience OR minimum of 7 years relevant work experience and Professional Engineer License
+ Must possess strong technical writing and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience working in electric utility substations
+ Professional Engineer License (licensed in the state of PA preferred)
+ Leadership experience
+ Familiarity with ANSI/IEEE Standards
+ Experience with Doble RTS and Powerbase
Scope
Primary Focus is on daily deliverables, outputs and reporting. Accountable for managing one's own time and work flow and leads projects and/or large project steps. Work is complex in nature requiring the incumbent to draw on previous knowledge to perform role. Acts independently the majority of the time, requiring guidance in only complex situations. Has well established capabilities, acts as a resource to less experienced staff on moderately complex issues.
Decision Impact
Problems and issues faced are vague and require analysis of multiple sources of information for solution. Draws on significant past experience to perform role. Accountable for direct level of reasoning and decision making.
Hybrid Work
Position follows our hybrid work model, with a minimum of two days working in the office and the remaining days working remotely. Reporting location and frequency may be subject to change based on job role and department needs.
Storm Roles
All Non-Union Employees will serve in storm roles as appropriate to their role and skillset. Please be sure to discuss storm roles with the hiring manager for this position, as duties can vary across the Company. _Examples of storm roles could include but aren't limited to duties such as: working with operations for service center support or with the communications, customer service or government affairs teams to respond to public and customer requests for information, etc._
Data Governance
Utilize data to make business decisions as appropriate for the position, support data stewardship activities and partner with IT on underlying data needs.
