    Job Title: Auto Body Painter

    Job Description

    Join our team as a Painter's Assistant on the 1st shift, Monday through Friday from 7am to 3:30pm. You will be engaged in prepping, painting, and finishing truck bodies, utility beds, and custom equipment using Single Stage Liquid Spray painting techniques. Prepare to get your hands dirty, wear a respirator, and work on tasks such as grinding and finishing fiberglass. This role offers the opportunity to advance as our current painter is expected to retire within the next five years.

    Responsibilities

    + Repair buckets and boom sections by laying in new fiberglass mesh and bonding it with existing material.

    + Sand and cut out affected areas, graft new material, repaint, and blend in new paint without overspray.

    + Perform acid washing, sanding, and scuffing metal to prep for painting.

    + Apply undercoating and bedliners using a brush, roller, or gun.

    + Tape and bag off areas to prepare for painting.

    + Use good judgment and safe practices to ensure proper paint application.

    + Take pride in the finished product, ensuring no drips, runs, or uneven coverage.

    + Wash equipment pre or post work.

    + Physically navigate compartments, climb ladders, and work underneath equipment while spraying paint.

    Essential Skills

    + Experience with painting, sandblasting, paint prep, spray guns, polishing, and auto body painting.

    + Proficiency in HVLP spray painting techniques.

    + Ability to sand, grind, polish, and finish surfaces.

    + Understanding of industrial painting and auto body processes.

    Additional Skills & Qualifications

    + Auto Body tech degree OR 1+ years of Auto Body paint experience.

    + Ability to lift 40 pounds overhead and in any direction.

    + Capable of holding and controlling your weight when climbing, crawling, and stooping over truck bodies and aerial lifts.

    + Willingness to stand all day and move in all directions, as the role is very physical.

    Work Environment

     

    Work in a medium-sized manufacturing and service shop featuring three distinct service areas for welding/fabricating, chassis building, and vehicle servicing. The facility includes a full paint booth. Be prepared for a busy and sometimes cramped environment as colleagues work closely together, especially during peak times.

     

    Pay and Benefits

     

    The pay range for this position is $41600.00 - $49920.00/yr.

     

    Ichra Insurance with a 65% premium.

     

    Dental, vision, $10k in life insurance.

     

    PTO: 80 hours year 1, 120 hours years 2+. (They are not strict about PTO. If someone needs to step away they will not give anyone a hard time.)

    This is a fully onsite position in St. Louis Park,MN.
