Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. This is not an assembly line or a basic assembler role. Assemblers need to be proficient with computers to review work instructions and document processes and progress.
Responsibilities
+ Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools.
+ Utilize specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, and electrical testing equipment.
+ Manipulate engine components during the assembly process.
+ Learn and apply technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines.
+ Interpret and follow work instructions, SOPs, blueprints, and engineering drawings.
+ Use a variety of tools, including torque wrenches, pneumatic air power tools, and DC tooling.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in an industrial environment working with hands.
+ Experience using mechanical tooling, including torque equipment and DC tools.
+ Mid-level minimum mechanical aptitude.
+ Ability to follow written work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
+ CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and work instructions.
+ Ability to pass written and hands-on assessments during the training period.
+ Steel-toed or composite shoes required to start.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance.
+ No diploma required.
Available Shift & Pay
+ 1st Shift: 6:30AM-2:30PM // **$21.34**
+ 2nd Shift: 2:30PM-10:30PM // **$22.09**
+ 3rd Shift: 10:30PM-6:30AM // **$22.09**

Work Environment
The facility operates in a manufacturing environment, split between an assembly side and a machine shop, with temperature-controlled conditions throughout. There is a relaxed dress code allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, and hats, while work pants and jeans are acceptable. The facility is very clean with minimal debris, emphasizing safety as the highest priority. PPE is non-negotiable, requiring steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses. The facility is a tobacco-free campus, with designated areas for tobacco use during approved break times.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
