Job Title: 2nd shift Feed Mill Operator

Job Description

Join our team as a Feed Mill Operator, where you will be responsible for operating controls, weighing and scaling bags of feed, and working efficiently on a conveyor system. You will also manage order processing, fill out necessary paperwork, and operate a bagging machine to load and pack bags of feed. Your role involves setting up pallets, operating a sit-down forklift, and lifting 50-pound bags of feed throughout the day. Basic math skills are essential for completing documentation during deliveries and handling inventory. Additionally, you will assist with janitorial duties as needed.

Responsibilities

+ Operate controls and manage the weighing and scaling of feed bags.

+ Work on a conveyor system to efficiently process orders.

+ Fill out paperwork and operate a bagging machine for loading and packing.

+ Set up pallets and operate a sit-down forklift.

+ Lift and handle 50-pound bags of feed throughout the day.

+ Perform basic math to complete documentation and manage inventory.

+ Assist with janitorial duties when needed.

Essential Skills

+ General labor experience in production, farm work, or a similar field.

+ Forklift operation skills and basic math proficiency.

+ Ability to lift 50 pounds and work comfortably with heights.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ Six months of experience in production, machine operating, forklift, or construction work.

+ Experience working on a farm or in a feed mill is ideal.

Work Environment

Our team produces various types of farm animal feed, working in a close-knit environment of 13 individuals. The work setting is non-climate controlled, which means it can be hot in the summer and cold in the winter. The environment is well-organized but can be dusty, so be prepared to get dirty. Currently, the available shift is the 2nd shift, with a schedule from 3pm to 11pm, sometimes extending to 12-hour shifts. Training is provided during the 1st shift, which runs from 7am to 3pm. Employees are working 10-20 hours of overtime weekly due to staffing needs. Dress code includes wearing shorts in the summer and mandatory steel-toed boots.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Rockford, Illinois.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.00/hr.
