Job Title: Mechanical Assembler
Job Description
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Assembler to join our team. This role involves the assembly of large diesel and natural gas engines, utilizing a variety of hand and power tools, specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, electrical testing equipment, and lifting devices/cranes. The successful candidate will be manipulating engine components during the assembly process and learning the technical aspects of engine assembly, including troubleshooting and repair of in-process engines. This position is not a basic assembler role; we are looking for individuals who are borderline mechanics and seriously mechanically inclined.
Responsibilities
+ Assemble large diesel and natural gas engines using hand and power tools.
+ Utilize specialized torque equipment, pneumatic tooling, and lifting devices during the assembly process.
+ Interpret blueprints and specifications for custom engine assemblies.
+ Perform troubleshooting and repair on in-process engines.
+ Document processes and progress using CPU and work instructions.
+ Ensure safety and quality standards are maintained throughout the assembly process.
Essential Skills
+ Proven experience in an industrial environment, working with hands.
+ Experience using mechanical tooling such as torque equipment, DC tools, and hand tools.
+ Mid-level mechanical aptitude and ability to interpret work instructions, SOPs, and blueprints.
+ CPU skills to follow engineering drawings and document processes.
+ Ability to pass written and hands-on assessment during the training period.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in industries such as automotive, diesel technician, lube technician, tire shop, farming, construction, and maintenance.
+ No diploma required.
+ Steel-toed or composite shoes required to start.
+ Must score in the 21st percentile or above on the relevant assessment.

Work Environment
Work in a temperature-controlled manufacturing environment split between assembly and machine shop areas. The facility maintains a relaxed dress code allowing sweatshirts, t-shirts, hats, and work pants. Safety is a top priority, and PPE such as steel or composite toe shoes, earplugs, and protective glasses are mandatory. Enjoy working in a clean facility with minimal debris and a tobacco-free campus policy. Employees typically work in pairs within a team of four zones on the main line, with varying job times depending on the task. Shift options include 1st, 2nd, and 3rd shifts, as well as AWS schedules.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Lafayette, Indiana.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $21.34 - $22.09/hr.
