Job Description

Position Purpose:

Perform a variety of skilled/unskilled work in the operation, maintenance, and grounds keeping of the Lake Gaston Water Supply Project.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

+ Safely operate lawn mowers (riding zero turn), bush hogging (Tractor Operator), weed eater, and other small hand/power tools.

+ Thorough knowledge of health and safety standards and precautions pertaining to utilities operations and maintenance procedures.

+ Strong desire to establish and maintain effective working relationships, teams, and work groups with other employees, contractors and the general public.

+ Strong ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and effectively communicate with others.

+ Monitors all charts, gauges, SCADA and other operating equipment.

Work Environment:

+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is exposed to outside weather conditions.

+ The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate, however limited exposure to higher noise level (within OSHA standards) may occur.

Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

+ High School Diploma/GED is required.

+ Approximately 1½ years industry experience.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

+ Ability to understand verbal and written instructions in English.

+ Good communication skills, written and oral.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

+ Valid driver's license.

Physical Requirements:

+ While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear.

+ The employee is frequently required to stand; walk; climb stairs or ladders; sit; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and taste or smell.

+ The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.

+ Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to distinguish color, close vision and distance vision.
