Summary This position is located in the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Hampton VA Medical Center, Prosthetics and Sensory Aids Service, at the North Battlefield Outpatient Clinic (NBVAOC). The incumbent serves as a Supply Technician. Duties include performing work comprising a wide range of systematized supply operations such as performing records functions in inventory, storage, cataloging, receipting, and control processes Responsibilities Duties include, but may not be limited to the following: Property Accountability Work Regularly conducts physical inventories and adjusts and/or maintains inventory stock, or property account records; performs records functions in inventory, storage, cataloging, receipt and control processes, and reissue and reutilization of inventory; performs property accountability duties or the more routine phases of property management including inventory of nonexpendable property, reporting excess property, etc. Make recommendations to Management regarding changes to products, stock processes and other areas of the supply program. Document Control Work Incumbent oversees stock room and inventory by utilizing prescribed PSAS databases and governing inventory and supply regulations, manuals, procedures and processes. Using the Prosthetic Inventory Program (PIP), maintain local stock records, reorder when stocks are low or at a specified reorder point; prepare standard reports such as variances between actual and estimated costs; and perform supply transactions such as receipt, shipment, storage, control, issue, and/or adjustment functions. Researches and corrects automated supply transaction input and output errors or problems. Inventory Management Work Performs inventory management related duties including elements of item management, materiel coordination, and inventory control. Utilizes Prosthetic Inventory Program (PIP) database, compiles reports and disseminates as required. Generate reports via Integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activities and Accounting Procurement (IFCAP) and PIP providing copies to immediate supervisor and management for review and action if needed. Maintains inventory for items from readily available sources of supply, or items which reflect relatively stable patterns of demand. Customer Service Issue and/or deliver material to work center personnel or patients directly; contact customers, supply organizations, transportation units, and others to obtain material status information; follow up on urgently required items, and/or expedite delivery of material to facility; assists with and provides customer support and service, issuing and/or resolving customer needs and equipment issues. Performs other customer service duties as needed. Return and Reutilization Regularly review and monitor reutilization of equipment from PSAS and/or vendor inventory. Arrange for disposal of equipment condemned from Durable Medical Equipment (DME) inventory. Performs other related duties as assigned. Qualifications To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 11/03/2025. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. If the most recent SF-50 has an effective date within the past year, it may not clearly demonstrate you possess one-year time-in-grade, as required by the announcement. In this instance, you must provide an additional SF-50 that clearly demonstrates one-year time-in-grade. Note: Time-In-Grade requirements also apply to former Federal employees applying for reinstatement as well as current employees applying for Veterans Employment Opportunities Act of 1998 (VEOA) appointment. You may qualify based on your experience as described below: Specialized Experience: You must have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade GS-05 in the normal line of progression for the occupation in the organization. Examples of specialized experience would typically include, but are not limited to: performing supply technician duties involving purchasing, inventory control, storage, and issue of supplies or equipment; maintaining stock and property records; conducting physical inventories; and adjusting, cataloging, or tracking prosthetic or medical supply items. Experience also includes utilizing automated supply systems such as the Prosthetic Inventory Program (PIP), Integrated Funds Distribution, Control Point Activities and Accounting Procurement (IFCAP), or similar databases to manage stock, generate reports, and process transactions.
