EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITY – INTERIOR DESIGNER
Tecton Architects has an immediate opening in our Hartford, CT studio for an Interior Designer. The ideal candidate will be an emerging professional who is passionate about creating a positive impact through design. This role will support a variety of project types, spanning K-12 schools, higher education, healthcare, corporate and public safety environments. Applicants should demonstrate an interest in working in a collaborative environment, have a strong design sense with technical grounding, and be able to contribute to the creative process. This is a full-time, hybrid position, with employees splitting the work week between our Hartford studio and remote work.
Responsibilities:
As an Interior Designer, you will be an integral part of each project as you work closely with multiple project leaders and the entire team to deliver thoughtful, quality and conscientious work for our clients. Responsibilities will include:
+ Programming, space planning, test fits and construction documents for interior fit-outs of various sizes.
+ Millwork design and detailing, ceiling design, light fixture specifications, furniture specifications, and related coordination with various consultants, engineers and representatives.
+ Collaboration and assistance with the lead designer on project related tasks.
+ Developing, modifying and reviewing production drawings according to established code standards.
+ Assisting designers in sourcing materials and products.
+ Day-to-day client contact and support.
+ Providing representation at client meetings including project scoping sessions, program generation and reviews, test fit and design reviews, limited construction administration and move management sessions.
Qualifications:
+ 1-5 years of experience in a professional setting are required. Internships and other work placement programs will satisfy this requirement.
+ A Bachelor's Degree in Interior Design is required.
+ NCIDQ Certification preferred if eligible. (Once eligible, certification required.)
+ A minimum of one year of experience using Revit in an academic or professional setting is required. Proficiency in Revit is preferred.
+ A portfolio that demonstrates a high level of skill in design thinking and presentation media is required.
