    The Spencerport School District is currently accepting applications for a Food Service Helper to assist in the kitchen of Cosgrove Middle School. Applications will be reviewed and selected candidates will be contacted for a screening interview.*Applicants must be fingerprinted and cleared for employment for the NYS Education Department before employment begins. Job Description/Nature of Work:

     

    + General kitchen work includes but not limited to preparation of foods, dishing/portioning of foods, set up of serving lines, cashing, serving, and cleanup of serving lines, and kitchen areas including washing pots and pans.

    + Participates in the maintenance of acceptable health, safety and sanitary practices as required by various regulatory agencies. Participates in the care and safe operation of the kitchen equipment.

    Job Requirements:

    + Demonstrates proficiency in cash handling, including accurate operation of the cash registers and execution of cashier duties

    + Sufficient communication skills, manual dexterity and ability to perform food service skills under time constraints without close supervision

    + Safely operate, clean, and maintain utensils and equipment used in a school kitchen.

    + Follow written recipes and menus as provided.

    + Adhere to sanitation requirements in the handling and preparation of food.

    + Establish and maintain effective working relationships with students and staff.

    + Physical stamina required to meet job demands include:

    + Standing for extended periods on hard surfaces

    + Lifting items up to 30 lbs.

    + Bending and reaching
