    **Position:** Patient Care Tech / Health Unit Coordinator

    **Location:** Baylor Scott and White, College Station

    **Shift:** Full-time Nights - 3 12 hours shifts with Rotating Weekends.

    **Opportunities available in the following departments:** Medical Surgical, ICU, IMCU, Telemetry

    Job Summary

    The Patient Care Technician handles various duties under a licensed nurse's supervision. Helps deliver patient care and meet family needs. Follows the care plan, considering the patient's age and development stage.

     

    What can you expect to do as a Patient Care Tech?

     

    + Collects and records patient data, including vital signs.

    + Assists patients with activities of daily living (ADLs), including bathing, dressing, toileting, and transferring.

    + Responds to call lights and conducts regular patient rounds.

    + Provides personal hygiene care and assists with patient clean-up.

    + Adheres to Baylor Scott & White policies and procedures.

    + Performs glucose monitoring and collects specimens as requested.

    + Will be required to directly support multiple patients during each shift.

    Other duties that may be included:

    + Tracks and reports quality data for the unit.

    + Completes and maintains files and forms for admissions, transfers, and discharges.

    + Assigns phones and location devices to appropriate staff members.

    + Maintains inventory, requisitions, and stocks supplies and equipment in the work area.

    + Greets visitors and provides assistance.

    + Answers telephones and communicates with the nursing team and medical staff using pagers, and cell phones, based on department needs.

    QUALIFICATIONS

    + EDUCATION - H.S. Diploma/GED Equivalent

    + EXPERIENCE - Less than 1 Year of Experience

    + CERTIFICATION/LICENSE/REGISTRATION

    + Basic Life Support (BLS): BLS or BLS within 30 days of hire or transfer.
