We’re seeking a highly skilled Sr. Application Support Technician to support our in-house developed work order and asset management application as well as daily service desk support to a group of 400+ users. The Application Support Technician, Senior performs complex paraprofessional duties supporting the acquisition and utilization of information applications and hardware including reviewing system needs, performing network administration, providing customer support, and training; functions as a liaison with vendors, Information Services Division, and/or the Regional Information System.

Examples of Duties Performed - Duties may include but are not limited to the following
Serve as the primary point of contact for IT support for all sections of Public Works Maintenance and Parks & Open Spaces staff.
Provide tier 1 support for Windows desktops, laptops, tablets, and peripherals.
Manage, configure, deploy and track Apple/iOS devices, apps, and security profiles for staff.
Maintain and enhance the enterprise asset and work order management application.
Apply and make changes to our home-grown application through the user interface and make minor SQL/database modifications.
Develop reports, queries, and scripts to streamline workflows and integrate data from multiple sources.
Test changes, coordinate upgrades, and support end-users through transitions.
Support and troubleshoot IoT devices deployed in the field (e.g., sensors, meters, equipment trackers).
Partner with field crews to ensure connectivity and data collection from remote systems.
Liaise with City Information Services and external vendors to resolve escalated issues, coordinate upgrades, and ensure compliance with standards.
Document procedures, develop user guides, and deliver training for Maintenance and Parks/Open Spaces staff.
Monitor system performance, backup and recovery processes, and security protocols within the divisions.
Recommend and implement technology improvements to better serve division operations.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications

A typical way to obtain the knowledge and abilities would be:
Experience:
Three years of experience in Microsoft Windows support, iOS and SQL or related fields.
Training:
Equivalent to an Associate Degree in a computer related field.
License or Certificate:
A valid Oregon driver's license or, the ability to obtain by date of hire; must pass driving
records check and, if hired, maintain a driving record that meets the City's standard. Oregon law requires that an out-of-state license holder must obtain a valid Oregon license (with appropriate endorsements) within 30 days of becoming domiciled in the state (ORS 803.355).
The Ideal Candidate will possess the following knowledge, skills, and abilities:
Knowledge of:
Microsoft Windows system administration and local area network applications/hardware.
Apple/iOS device management in a business or public-sector environment.
SQL and relational database use and report/query generation or the ability to learn.
Understanding of asset management or work order management systems.
Ability to automate tasks with scripts.
Strong troubleshooting and customer service skills for field and office staff.
Clear, effective communication with both technical and non-technical staff.
Ability to work independently, prioritize competing tasks, and coordinate with vendors and central IT.
Experience supporting technology used in outdoor or remote field operations (IoT sensors, ruggedized devices, wireless connectivity).

Salary and Benefits
The normal starting salary is the first step shown on the posting. Other placement in the salary range may be considered depending on qualifications and experience. Periodic advancement through the salary range is dependent upon merit. The City provides a full range of benefits, including holidays, vacation, sick leave, retirement benefit, and life insurance.
