    We are seeking a developer to help shape the future of Microsoft’s remote assistance products. This candidate thrives in ambiguity, enjoys building robust systems in collaboration with others, and values solutions that are cost-effective, reliable, and state-of-the-art scalable systems.

    In this role, you will:

    + Be part of a engineering team building cutting-edge remote assistance products like Quick Assist and Remote Help across multiple operating systems.

    + Design and develop software and services at scale, leveraging the latest technologies and modern engineering practices.

    + Tackle challenging problems in native applications, cloud services, and screen-sharing protocols—directly empowering millions of users to resolve issues efficiently and securely.

    + Contribute to product roadmaps and define user experiences.

    + Write secure, quality code.

    Responsibilities

    + Lead design and implementation of complex features and services across Windows components and apps, ensuring architectural soundness, scalability, and maintainability.

    + Write quality, extensible, and maintainable code, applying advanced coding patterns. Drive adoption of modern engineering practices across the team.

    + Define and implement comprehensive testing strategies, including automated validation and quality gates, ensuring robust and reliable solutions.

    + Own production readiness by integrating telemetry, diagnostics, and observability into solutions to monitor performance, reliability, availability, and usage at scale.

    + Collaborate across teams to influence technical direction, resolve dependencies, and deliver end-to-end solutions that meet business and customer needs.

    + Mentor and guide engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence and continuous improvement.

    Qualifications

    Required Qualifications** **:

    + Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages including, but not limited to, C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    + OR equivalent experience.

    + Experience working through multiple full product cycles

    + Experience with telemetry, data analysis and visualization

    **Other Requirements** :Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

    + **Microsoft Cloud Background Check** : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

    Preferred Qualifications :

    + Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years of technical engineering experience in software development using languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python

    + OR Master’s Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years of technical engineering experience in software development using the above languages

    + OR Equivalent experience.

    + Extensive experience with distributed systems and services, including designing and implementing resilient, performance architectures.

    + Proven track record of building and operating scalable, cloud services or distributed systems on platforms such as Azure, AWS, or GCP, including production ownership, observability, and integration with CI/CD pipelines.

    + Demonstrated ability to lead technical design and architecture discussions, influencing cross-team decisions and driving alignment on complex engineering challenges.

    + Experience delivering AI-powered applications, internal tools, or innovation platforms, leveraging modern frameworks and cloud-native patterns.

    + Problem-solving skills, ability to thrive in ambiguity, building secure and reliable cost-effective solutions at scale.

     

    Software Engineering IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $119,800 - $234,700 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $158,400 - $258,000 per year.
