    We’re looking for a strategic and operational leader to drive Microsoft’s commute, transportation, and fleet programs across the Puget Sound (PS) region. As the **Senior Manager, Puget Sound Commute Operations** , you’ll lead a high-impact portfolio that supports employee mobility, sustainability goals, and operational excellence across Redmond and surrounding campuses.

     

    This role is at the intersection of security, quality, and innovation—ensuring that commute operations are not only efficient and sustainable, but also safe, resilient, and future-ready. You’ll champion AI-powered solutions to streamline operations, enhance rider experience, and reduce manual overhead, while driving continuous improvement across service delivery and vendor performance.

     

    You’ll also play a key role in shaping Microsoft’s security posture for fleet and infrastructure, implementing protocols that align with Zero Trust principles and modern threat protection frameworks. Your leadership will help ensure that commute services meet the highest standards of quality, compliance, and employee satisfaction, while fostering a culture of curiosity, bold innovation, and operational excellence.

    Responsibilities

    Commute Program Strategy & Execution

    + Lead the design, delivery, and optimization of commute services including Connector, ORCA, Carpool/Vanpool, Rideshare (Scoop), and Guaranteed Ride Home (GRH), ensuring alignment with employee needs and sustainability goals.

    + Oversee strategic planning for fleet electrification across lines of business, including infrastructure upgrades and supplier coordination to support Microsoft's corporate sustainability goals.

    + Manage long range planning and service modeling and scenario planning for Flexible Work, including cost modeling, forecasting, ridership metrics, and vendor staffing needs.

    + Support wayfinding solutions to support employee mobility on campus

    Parking & EV Infrastructure

    + Lead direct oversight and enforcement for parking compliance, general and specialty parking strategy, including partnership with security on protocols.

    + Lead strategy and implementation EV charging infrastructure for both employee and fleet use, supporting low-carbon commuting and long-range planning.

    Financial Management & Contract Oversight

    + Own quarterly financial reviews, budget forecasting, and accounting for commute programs including Connector and Shuttle program, ORCA, Tripshot, and other vendor contracts.

    + Negotiate and manage contracts with suppliers for commute operations and charging strategy.

    + Ensure supplier and contract compliance, lead RFPs, audits as needed and manage risk within portfolio through financial and contract excellence.

    Stakeholder Engagement & Governance

    + Partner with groups in GWS to drive progress and delivery of quality solutions and services with Plan, Build & Construction, and Operations teams.

    + Partner with GWS global and regional stakeholders to share best practices and learn from each other.

    + Partner with CELA, Procurement, Security, Risk and internal teams to ensure compliance, accessibility, and safety across all commute services.

    + Represent PS Commute Ops in QBRs, leadership and stakeholder meetings, leading solutioning sessions to drive alignment and delivery across GWS.

    + Partner with suppliers to deliver operations excellence and consistency across all commute services on Puget Sound campus.

    + Community engagement for public transit developments such as Link Light Rail expansion.

    Communications & Employee Experience

    + Oversee employee and VIP communications, including policy updates, inclement weather alerts, and branding campaigns across communication channels.

    + Lead storytelling and engagement strategies to promote smart commute options and support recruitment and retention efforts.

    Digital Transformation, Data & Reporting

    + Partner with Microsoft Digital to drive and deliver AI-centric employee facing solutions and tools to support seamless integration between digital and physical commute journeys.

    + Guide commute data strategy including Power BI dashboards, utilization tracking, annual commute polls, and program audits.

    + Use insights to inform program improvements, demand analysis, and transit planning.

    Corporate Sustainability Leadership

    + Lead strategy, planning, and execution of fleet electrification efforts across Puget Sound operations in support of Microsoft’s Corporate Sustainability goals.

    + Oversee procurement and transition planning for electric vehicles across lines of business (Commute, Dining, Facilities, Logistics, Security).

    + Develop and implement scalable charging strategies for fleet vehicles, including both on-campus infrastructure and third-party solutions.

    + Collaborate with internal sustainability, facilities, and procurement teams to align fleet initiatives with broader environmental goals.

    + Monitor progress and report on key milestones related to emissions reduction and electrification readiness.

    + Advise on market trends and EV industry developments, to inform and deliver on fleet electrification roadmap.

    Qualifications

    Required/Minimum Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field AND 5+ years relevant experience OR

    + 7+ years equivalent experience.

    + 8+ years of experience in program management, with a track record of delivering complex initiatives and driving measurable outcomes.

    + 5+ years of experience in transportation operations, sustainability, or workplace services, applying best practices to improve efficiency and support organizational goals.

    Additional or Preferred Qualifications

    + Bachelor's Degree in Business Management, Real Estate, Project Management, or related field AND 7+ years Portfolio Management, Real Estate, or Office management experience OR

    + 10+ years equivalent experience.

    + 10+ years of experience in transportation operations, sustainability, or workplace services, driving operational excellence and supporting organizational objectives.

    + 5+ years of experience applying financial acumen, including forecasting and managing vendor contracts to ensure accuracy and cost efficiency.

    + 5+ years of experience leading cross-functional teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels, fostering collaboration and delivering results.

    + 5+ years of experience using Microsoft tools (Outlook, Teams, SharePoint) and internal systems, ensuring effective communication and workflow management.

     

    Real Estate Portfolio Management IC5 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $116,900 - $203,600 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $148,400 - $222,600 per year.
