Summary You will serve as an INSULATOR SUPERVISOR I in the Pipe Shop (960), Production Resources Department Manager (901), Production Resources Department (900) of NORFOLK NAVAL SHIPYARD. Responsibilities You will serve as a first line Insulator Supervisor charged with exercising supervision over subordinate workers. You will have technical accountability for the quantity and quality of the work performed by subordinates. You will be responsible for carrying out EEO policies and communicating support of these policies to subordinates. You will lay out work from written or verbal instructions. You will have qualifications in basic nuclear courses. You will plan the use of workers, equipment, facilities, materials and tools provided through the (AIM) process for assigned units of work. Interpret oral and/or written instructions, procedures, blueprints, sketches, or TGI/CU's. Knowledge of insulator techniques and materials Proficient in using both hand and power tools Measure, fit, cut, trim, shave and shear material. Fabricates molded sections of insulation for special applications using a miter box or band saw. Prepare removable pads or replace sections of insulation by making paper patterns as necessary, cutting an insulating material and sewing parts together on electric sewing machine. Wrap cloth or other fabric over insulation and sew the seams and joins using special tie line, and needle and sailmakers palm. Ability to perform routine insulating work. Ability to secure insulation in place with wire, metal straps or cement. Assemble task packages, material staging and coordination of release. AND Ability to Obtain Nuclear Qualifications.
