    Summary:

    This position is critical to the success of the Depot’s operations. The analyst will report to the General Superintendent, Support Services and will be responsible for various important tasks such as; utilizing various management systems UTS, Spear, DOBIC, Business Barometer and other databases to provide quantitative analysis to support management’s goals and objectives.

    Responsibilities:

    This position is responsible for managing the current NYCT/MTA Computer Maintenance Management System (CMMS) and developing and implementing a new NYCT/DOB EAM system. This includes supporting Facilities, Non-Rev Support Fleet, and Bus Operations through the ongoing observation and evaluation of the business processes that inform all aspects of Enterprise Asset Management and all levels of performance analysis and reporting. Train all levels of staff, support the creation and monitoring of operational key performance indicators and dashboard development. Under general supervision, with considerable latitude for independent initiative and judgement, this position is responsible for the on-going improvement of performance analysis tools and reports using available business intelligence tools such as Tableau. The incumbent will design and implement data collection and data loading techniques from diverse information sources that include Text, Excel, SQL Server, and Oracle Sources. The position supports data validation and analysis through the creation and use of reports and automated crosschecks and responding to various ad-hoc requests from operation and executive departments.

    Education and Experience:

    Associate Transit Management Analyst:

    + A master's degree from an accredited college in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, and two (2) years of full-time satisfactory professional experience in the collection, evaluation and use of data relating to operational procedures, administrative systems, equipment and space utilization, and staffing requirements, including the preparation of charts, graphs, drawings and technical reports. One (1) year of experience must have been in the transportation industry; or

    + A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college in one of the areas listed in "1" above; and three (3) years of full-time satisfactory experience as described in "1" above. One (1) year of this experience must have been in the transportation industry.

    Assistant Transit Management Analyst I & Assistant Transit Management Analyst II:

    + A master's degree from an accredited college or university in business administration, public administration, public policy, engineering, engineering technology, economics, architecture, mathematics, physics, computer science, finance, accounting, transportation planning, industrial psychology, urban planning/studies, human resources management, labor relations, operations research, security management or in a related area, or

    + A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory full-time professional experience working in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, engineering, in management or methods of analysis, operations research, organization research or program evaluation, personnel or public administration, staff development, employment program planning or administration, security management; or general administration.

    Associate Staff Analyst

    1. A Master's degree from an accredited college in economics, finance, accounting, business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, urban studies or a closely related field, and one (1) year of satisfactory full-time professional experience in one or a combination of the following: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management or in a related area; or

    2. A Baccalaureate degree from an accredited college and three (3) years of satisfactory full-time professional experience in the areas described in 1 above.

    3. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college and five years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in “1” above.

    4. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State’s department of education or a recognized accrediting organization and seven years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in “1” above.

    5. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to “1”, “2”, “3”, or “4” above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma and at least one year of experience as described in “1” above.

    Staff Analyst I & Staff Analyst II

    1. A master’s degree from an accredited college or university in economics, finance, accounting,

     

    business or public administration, human resources management, management science, operations research, organizational behavior, industrial psychology, statistics, personnel administration, labor relations, psychology, sociology, human resources development, political science, or urban studies, or a Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school; or

     

    2. A baccalaureate degree from an accredited college or university and two years of satisfactory fulltime professional experience in one or a combination of the following areas: working with the budget of a large public or private concern in budget administration, accounting, economic or financial administration, or fiscal or economic research; in management or methods analysis, operations research, organizational research or program evaluation; in personnel or public administration, recruitment, position classification, personnel relations, labor relations, employee benefits, staff development, employment program planning/administration, labor market research, economic planning, social services program planning/evaluation, or fiscal management; or in a related area; or

    3. An associate degree or completion of 60 semester credits from an accredited college or university and four years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or

    4. A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent and six years of satisfactory full-time professional experience as described in "2" above; or

    5. A combination of education and/or experience equivalent to "1", "2", "3", or "4" above. College education may be substituted for professional experience at the rate of 30 semester credits from an accredited college or university for one year of experience. However, all candidates must have a high school diploma.

    Special Note:

    To be eligible for placement in Assignment Level II, individuals must have, after meeting the minimum requirements, one additional year of professional experience as described in "2" above.

    Desired Skills:

    + Knowledge of vehicular maintenance operations and preventative maintenance procedures

    + Experience writing SQL queries.

    + Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

    + Knowledge of other Microsoft Office products

    + Experience designing dashboards using business intelligence software such as Tableau.

    + Strong PC skills

    + Excellent planning, analytical and interpersonal skills
