Ferguson is currently seeking the right individual to fill a tremendous career opportunity for a telecommute Associate System Administrator in Newport News, VA!
We are looking for a proactive and tech-savvy **Associate System Administrator** to join our IT team. This role focuses on supporting and managing the Microsoft Exchange and Microsoft 365 environments. Ideal for recent graduates or junior professionals eager to grow in systems administration and Exchange Administration.
Responsibilities:
+ Provide first-line technical support and troubleshooting for Microsoft Outlook and Exchange Online including hybrid Exchange environments.
+ Assist with the lifecycle of mailboxes, distribution groups, public folders, and shared mailboxes.
+ Monitor and respond to support tickets, documenting issues and resolutions accurately.
+ Troubleshoot device connectivity, software, and hardware issues.
+ Maintain inventory records for hardware and software assets.
+ Support IT projects including hardware refreshes, system upgrades, and rollout of new technologies.
+ Assist with system backups and routine maintenance schedules.
+ Be a part of an on-call rotation and possibly work two weekends a year for maintenance.
Qualifications:
+ Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field — or equivalent hands-on experience.
+ In-depth knowledge of Microsoft Exchange (both on-premises and Exchange Online) preferred.
+ Experience with Active Directory.
+ Understanding of and experience with PowerShell scripting for automation.
+ Familiarity with other M365 applications like SharePoint and Teams.
+ Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
+ Willingness to learn new tools and adapt to evolving technologies.
Preferred (Not Required):
+ Certifications such as CompTIA A+, Microsoft 365 Certified: Azure Fundamentals, or equivalent.
+ Exchange Admin Center (EAC) - Proficiency in managing both On-Prem and Cloud Exchange environments.
+ Experience with ticketing systems (e.g., ServiceNow, Jira Service Desk, Zendesk).
+ Familiarity with ITIL practices or Help Desk workflows.
+ Understanding of phone routing systems such as Genesys, Cisco, etc.
