Position: Industrial Automation Business Development Manager – Texas
Location/Territory: Candidates must be in Dallas area. Primary territory is Texas, may be asked to occasionally support Arizona, New Mexico and California, as needed.
Employment Type: FT
Compensation: 95k-140k based on experience + commission – 1 st year ramp
Travel: Travel up to 50%; travel consists of 50% overnight travel, 50% local/regional; some air travel required. All domestic

Education: Engineering degree is preferred, will consider highly experienced candidates with a track record of success building territories in Texas in the industrial automation, robotics or applicable manufacturing space.
Experience: 5+ years of experience selling or developing industrial automation solutions or related products in manufacturing environments; Proven track record in full-cycle B2B sales with demonstrated ability to close deals and solve complex customer problems
About This Opportunity
Adaptec is expanding our footprint in Texas and seeking a driven Business Development professional to build and own a new territory from the ground up. This is a hunter role focused on industrial automation new business development activities in: Tier 1 and 2 automotive manufacturing, Heavy equipment parts manufacturing, Aerospace and defense parts manufacturing, Distribution centers, and Consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing. You'll have the autonomy to shape your territory strategy while being backed by a proven systems integrator with over one thousand successful robotic installations nationwide. With nationwide field service support.
This role is highly strategic and will focus on generating new business, building strong customer partnerships, and collaborating closely with internal engineering teams to deliver engineered automation solutions.
What You'll Do
+ Territory Development & Pipeline Management: Build and manage a robust sales pipeline through customer inquiries, targeted account research, networking, and proactive prospecting. Own the full sales cycle from lead to close.
+ Strategic Prioritization: Demonstrate strong territory and time management by focusing on revenue-generating activities and knowing what to delegate, defer, or decline.
+ Solution Development: Understand manufacturing process challenges and develop high-level automation solutions involving robotics, high-speed sortation, OEM equipment integration, and material handling systems.
+ Target Market Penetration: Lead business development activities in:
+ Tier 1 and 2 automotive manufacturing
+ Heavy equipment parts manufacturing
+ Aerospace and defense parts manufacturing
+ Distribution centers
+ Consumer packaged goods (CPG) manufacturing
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work closely with internal engineering teams (project management, applications engineering) to ensure seamless project execution and customer satisfaction.
+ Independent Execution: Self-manage progress toward KPIs with minimal oversight while maintaining strong communication with leadership.
Required Qualifications
+ 5+ years of experience selling or developing industrial automation solutions or related products in manufacturing environments
+ Proven track record in full-cycle B2B sales with demonstrated ability to close deals and solve complex customer problems
+ Experience with quoting and scope of work development
+ Technical aptitude , understanding manufacturing processes and benefits associated with industrial automation solutions
+ Business acumen , ability to understand customer operations and translate needs into viable solutions
+ Ability to read and interpret facility drawings and CAD layouts (CAD proficiency is a plus)
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills with ability to influence stakeholders at all levels, internal and external
+ Proficiency in MS Office Suite
+ Self-motivated and results-driven with history of new business development
Preferred Qualifications
+ Engineering degree (or equivalent hands-on experience in industrial engineering solutions)
+ Background in new territory development in Texas
+ Existing book of business or network in target industries
+ Deep understanding of manufacturing processes in Adaptec's core markets
Success Metrics
Within 6 Months:
+ Develop comprehensive understanding of Adaptec's install base in your region
+ Identify and qualify prospects that match our existing customer profile
+ Build pipeline of qualified opportunities
Within 1 Year:
+ Establish strong foothold in Texas territory with measurable revenue growth
+ Close multiple projects demonstrating ability to solve complex manufacturing challenges
+ Expand network and reputation as trusted advisor in industrial automation

In compliance with pay transparency requirements, the wage range for this role is $95k – $140k/yr . The rate range provided is a general guideline. Please note that the compensation details listed in role postings reflect the base salary only, and do not include bonus, and/or commission (if applicable) or benefits.
