    The Business Intelligence Analyst is responsible for delivering high quality analytics and visualization solutions with minimal supervision, on time and aligned to business needs. The analyst will translate complex questions into actionable insights by leveraging an enterprise analytics framework, robust data infrastructure, and a consistent operating model. Depending on skills and career goals, the role will span business consulting and visualization, technical data design and analysis, or both.

     

    This position will initially focus on oncology and inpatient service areas associated with the Future Cancer Hospital program, including the clinical and operational transition of services. Key domains include inpatient mortality analytics, inpatient consult services, psychosocial services integration, and planning for new inpatient service lines (rehabilitation medicine and interventional pain management). Broader business areas supported may include Advance Care Planning, Supportive Oncology models of care and clinical operations.

     

    This position will work closely with the Program Manager in the Department of Supportive Oncology.

    PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    1. Work on multiple (1–2) projects simultaneously, ideally supporting a single business stakeholder group

    2. Collaborate with manager and business leaders to identify the high‑level business need, develop the project charter, and define scope and success criteria.

    3. Lead or co‑lead business requirements gathering and documentation, including metric definitions and data validation rules.

    4. Identify data source(s) and develop technical data design requirements, including data lineage and transformation logic.

    5. Develop wireframes and leverage BI tools (e.g., Tableau) to craft fit for purpose visualizations and dashboards.

    6. Write SQL to develop governed data sources and analytic datasets; contribute to data modeling and optimization as needed.

    7. Collaborate with internal teams for QA, UAT, and production release; ensure accuracy, reliability, and usability of analytic assets.

    8. Contribute to the development of reusable analytic assets, standardized metrics, and data models that can be used institute‑wide.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

    + Proficient with SQL and BI tools (e.g., Tableau).

    + Familiarity with Epic data (Clarity/Caboodle), inpatient workflows, and oncology/Advance Care Planning (ACP) data capture preferred.

    + Understanding of healthcare quality and operational metrics (mortality, length of stay (LOS), utilization, discharge disposition, hospice referrals, readmissions, consult volumes) preferred.

    + Ability to define and operationalize complex clinical metrics

    + Able to set appropriate expectations, present results, and communicate clearly in writing and verbally with supervisory oversight.

    + Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact with clinicians, operations leaders, and technical teams across institutions.

    + Strong analytical, organizational, and time management skills; excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    + Curious and motivated learner; comfortable iterating with stakeholders and working in ambiguous environments.

    + Preferred: experience with data quality assessment, basic statistical methods, and version control/collaboration tools.

    MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

    Minimum Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in a STEM field required.

    Minimum Experience:

    + 1 year of experience or a Master’s degree in a STEM field.

    + Tableau and Epic Clarity data model experience preferred.

    + Healthcare analytics experience (quality, inpatient operations, or oncology) preferred.

    License/Certification/Registration:

    Tableau certification required within 6 months of hire.

     

    Pay Transparency Statement

     

    The hiring range is based on market pay structures, with individual salaries determined by factors such as business needs, market conditions, internal equity, and based on the candidate’s relevant experience, skills and qualifications.

     

    For union positions, the pay range is determined by the Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA)

     

    $81,600 - $92,300
