    Your Specific Responsibilities:

    This position requires a Bachelor`s degree in dietetics with a major in nutrition. The person in this position must be knowledgeable about current nutrition practices, therapy modalities and client education that are relevant to nutrition and disease. Communicates effectively with others verbally and written. Conveys information to others in a clear and concise manner. Ability to document in medical records to SOAP noting format. Ability to persuade others to change between behaviors in favor of a healthier lifestyle. Ability to multitask to meet needs of the agency. Ability to counsel and refer clients to promote health and nutrition goals. Attains knowledge of structure and content of the English language including the meaning and spelling of words, rules of composition, and grammar. Knowledge of the principles of nutrition and how they relate to disease prevention. Basic understanding of the philosophy of digestion, metabolism, and absorption as they relate to overall nutrition.

     

    Certifies clients for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with the policies of the State WIC Program and regulations as stated in DHM-150-24. Develops, monitors and revises Nutrition Education plans for individual clients not determined medically at risk. Provides breastfeeding information and counseling to WIC clients, community, and private sectors. Documents in FL Wise according to established policies and procedures indicated in DHM-150-24.

     

    + Provides nutrition education via the monthly WIC Nutrition newsletter, discussion, and random quiz to all low-risk WIC participants at WIC pick up visits.

    + Documents services in FL-Wise using SOAP charting method.

    + Monitors and follows protocols for nutrition assessment and follows up for high-risk WIC clients.

    + Provides referral to other health care and social service programs. Coordinate services with other CHD programs, including, immunizations, primary care, Healthy Start, etc.

     

    Breastfeeding

     

    + Participates in breastfeeding promotion (via one-on-one education or outreach), breastfeeding training and activities,

     

    (Including WORLD Breastfeeding Week) and participates in WIC outreach events, as needed.

     

    Develops, monitors, tracks second nutrition education contacts. Tracks and monitors compliance of high-risk clients ensuring requirements are met.

     

    Selects, develops, and evaluates client education materials, prepares lesson plans, conducts nutrition education classes for clients according to established standards.

     

    Participates in promoting WIC and breastfeeding through Outreach activities.

     

    Completes Direct Distribution Formula Inventory at the end of each month. Prepares the direct distribution formula order and send it to the WIC Director. Tracks and monitor formula invoices upon receipt and sends to WIC Bureau within timeframe. Complies with and monitors compliance when applicable of the mandatory requirements in Section 215.422, Florida Statues Chapter 69I-24, Florida Administrative Code.

     

    Other duties as assigned.

     

    + Completes all required forms and reports such as Employee Activity Reports.

     

    Performs anthropometrics and hemoglobin measurements for clients during WIC certification, recertification, mid- certification, and follows up when needed.

     

    + Attends required CHD meetings.

    + Responsible for securing the designated information sets for the purpose of protecting confidentiality, date integrity, and appropriate access, for all information, both confidential and public record which is stored in hard copy or electronic formats.

    + Travel to other WIC sites as needed.

    + All other related duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum: Bachelor's or Higher in Dietetics, Community Nutrition, Clinical Nutrition, Public Nutrition or Food and Nutrition. DOH Experience, WIC Experience

     

    Preferred: Spanish Speaking, DOH Experience, WIC Experience
