SUMMARY: WR has an opportunity for two AIT Technicians to stage, remove, install, dress, terminate, modify, light-off, configure, test, troubleshoot, and repair developmental and production military and commercial shipboard and shore-based electronic components, parts, equipment, and systems for the Alteration/Installation Team (AIT).
Position responsibilities will include, but are not limited to the following:
+ Applies basic and some advanced technical knowledge to solve routine problems by interpreting manufacturers' manuals or similar documents.
+ Works under immediate supervision and receives technical guidance, as required, from a supervisor or higher-level technician.
+ Provides leadership and direction on system rip-out and installation procedures.
+ Procures, transports, and stages materials and equipment in support of projects.
+ Performs mechanical disassembly and assembly of equipment.
+ Conducts standard and custom military and commercial connectorization .
+ Performs switchboard and cabinet termination and connectorization .
+ Removes cables, equipment, and materials.
+ Provides status and progress reports to the project manager.
+ Verifies functionality of newly installed equipment under actual operating conditions.
+ Maintains and continuously seeks improvements to the working environment for maximum efficiency, safety, quality, cleanliness, and capability.
+ Routes, bands, and terminates cables, including connector fabrication.
+ Installs and modifies equipment racks.
+ Removes existing systems and equipment, which may include (but is not limited to):
+ Navigation interior systems
+ Exterior communications
+ Radar systems
+ Provides training, guidance, and oversight to lower-level technicians.
+ Assigns tasks to lower-level technicians in support of project goals.
+ Must be team-oriented.
Candidates must possess the following knowledge, skills, and experience:
+ High School Diploma or GED
+ Five (5)+ years of progressive, “hands-on” experience in support of alteration/installation, production, integration, repair, troubleshooting, or maintenance of government or commercial electronic systems or equipment.
+ Two (2)+ years of experience as a technician in related electronics fields, with advanced mechanical or electrical knowledge to solve installation problems and an understanding of the alteration and installation process.
+ One (1)+ year of experience providing technical guidance to lower-level technicians supporting installation, repair, troubleshooting, and maintenance of electronic systems or equipment.
+ Certified in connectorization and cableway procedures.
+ Familiarity with circuit interrelationships and ability to plan work sequences, select tools, and use testing instruments, with work reviewed for compliance with accepted practices.
+ Knowledge of CTWDs, WAFs, tag-out procedures, and applicable safety requirements in both shipboard and laboratory environments.
+ OSHA 10-Hour Maritime, NAVSEA Cableway, and Connector certifications required.
+ Current NAVSEA Fiber certification is a plus.
