Position Summary
Assists with the development and execution of comprehensive legal strategies and solutions to facilitate Xcel Energy's objectives while mitigating any associated legal risks and to function cooperatively as a team member with General Counsel employees. Handles routine legal matters with considerable oversight from other in-house counsel.
Essential Responsibilities
+ Conducts legal research and drafts basic legal documents.
+ Assists with the provision of general legal advice to business areas.
+ Participates in meetings with business areas to assist discussions of policy, compliance and outline legal strategy.
+ Monitors and reports on administrative or agency proceedings.
Minimum Requirements for Associate Attorney (Salary Range: $82,800 - $117,000. Associate Attorney is not eligible for the Long-Term Incentive benefit.)
- Juris Doctorate degree from ABA accredited law school.
- 0-3 Years of practice in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent legal experience and licensed to practice, or able to be licensed to practice on reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe of accepting the position, where the position is located.
- Excellent academic record and relevant qualifications; excellent analytical, legal research and writing skills
- The ability to work independently as well as part of a team; the ability to prioritize and plan a challenging workload.
- Excellent client relationship skills; and a demonstrated work ethic.
Minimum Requirements for Sr. Attorney (Salary Range: $105,600 - $150,000; Sr. Attorney is not eligible for the Long-Term Incentive benefit.)
- Juris Doctorate degree from ABA accredited law school.
- Licensed to practice, or able to be licensed to practice on reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe of accepting the position, where the position is located.
- 3-6 years of practice in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent legal experience.
- Superior verbal and written communication skills are required.
Minimum Requirements for Principal Attorney (Salary Range: $139,400 - $197,467)
- Juris Doctorate degree from ABA accredited law school.
Licensed to practice, or able to be licensed to practice on reciprocity within a reasonable timeframe of accepting the position, where the position is located.
- 6-10 years of practice in corporate law department, law firm, government practice or equivalent legal experience.

The anticipated starting base pay for this position is: $82,800.00 to $197,467.00 per year
