POSITION OVERVIEW:
The General Manager will lead the day-to-day operations of Loew’s Jersey Theatre and serve as lead oversight on all programmed events. This role will play a critical role in all capital improvements, venue operations, preventative care and maintenance of all buildings systems and equipment, while also owning the responsibility for developing and executing the venue’s business plan and budget. The General Manager will partner with the EVP, GM – Prudential Center, Chief Programming Officer, and the the venue’s department leadership team to develop the overall vision of the facility and ensure all efforts are strategically aligned to support the company’s overall business strategy of the venue. The General Manager will be responsible for leading and managing a high-performing team that supports the company’s mission of equal employment recruiting and developing the most talented department heads in their respective areas to create the best-in-class practices and a desirable venue to work at.
RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE, BUT ARE NOT LIMITED TO THE BELOW:
+ Lead the day-to-day venue operations across all departments in the areas of operations, event production, engineering, security, f&b, guest experience, box office, and custodial.
+ Oversee the management of all third-party contractors to ensure a high level of service in the areas of cleanliness, pest control, snow removal, landscaping, security and guest experience.
+ Oversee and manage the strategic company vision associated with the operation of the venue, preventative maintenance programs, maintenance and operation of all building related systems and equipment.
+ Plan and coordinate oversight in the management of all operating budgetary items and capital improvement projects to ensure projects are on time and on budget.
+ Drive the identification process of company best practices that can be implemented proactively across all departments to ensure the operation is consistently at a world-class level.
+ Partner with the department head leadership team to implement an RFP and procurement process and ensure compliance across the venue’s departments alongside the EVP, GM – Prudential Center.
+ Recruit, evaluate and develop department team members and commit to the betterment of each department while instilling company culture and leadership initiatives.
+ Curate, direct and coordinate the venue's work plan; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems; assign projects and programmatic areas of responsibility; review and evaluate work methods and procedures.
+ Oversee the preventative maintenance programs for all HVAC equipment, sound equipment, lighting systems, fire safety systems and energy management systems within the facility.
+ Represent the organization to the external community in business and social settings. These include industry peers, labor leaders, government officials, executives, developers, landlords etc. to maintain a positive open working relationship while always using professional discretion.
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ 5-7 years of prior management experience in facilities management, hospitality, or public assembly spaces with direct responsibility for supervising/directing staff across a wide-range of operating functions in a fast-paced environment.
+ Experience in startup operations of like venue preferred.
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Collective Bargaining Agreements (CBA) and the ability to manage both a non-union and unionized workforce.
+ Excellent verbal & written communication, organizational and time management skills required
+ Must be able to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced deadline-oriented environment
+ Adept at maintaining a positive, open, approachable, and professional relationship with a diverse group of workforces.
+ Ability to present an uplifting personality while maintaining a high degree of confidentiality and business ethics.
+ Must be able to work a flexible schedule inclusive of weekends, nights and holidays required based on event schedules.
+ Bachelor’s degree in business, Operations Management or Facilities Management or equivalent working in the live entertainment field is desired.
+ Experience with large crowd management in a public assembly venue setting of a similar size (2,000+ seats) is desired.
+ Knowledge of applicable federal, state, and local laws, regulations and reporting requirements, including OSHA and other safety-related regulations.
+ Possess and/or acquire a thorough knowledge of Department and County policies and a working knowledge of applicable City policies

+ Travel Requirements: May travel up to 5% during the year
+ Physical Demands: Must be able to lift up to 50lbs
+ Work Environment: This position requires work to be performed onsite at the theater in Jersey City, NJ and/or the Prudential Center/New Jersey Devils offices in Newark, NJ. Attendance at events taking place in the theater or meetings offsite, including but not limited to weekends and/or holidays may be required as an essential job function.
