General Summary
Currently, we have a great opportunity available for a Research & Development co-op to join our Printing and Packaging Group. This temporary position will be located in Cincinnati, Ohio laboratories and offices.
In the role, you will support scientists and technicians in our business unit’s research and development (R&D) projects and programs by conducting experiments on water-based products that provide clear competitive advantage for our commercial markets. The developed products will be engineered towards meeting the needs of new and existing markets aligned with the strategic business plan.
Primary Responsibilities
+ Provide hands-on technical assistance in the application testing of new polymer and wax dispersions and emulsions for select waterborne industrial product markets
+ Execute technical service and troubleshooting projects for specific customer or project needs
+ Test performance of new products delivering growth for the Printing & Packaging Group
+ Document and present results to the business team
Other
+ Perform related duties as assigned or as the situation dictates
+ Capable of conducting hands-on bench scale experiments, including the lifting and moving of lab equipment and supplies
+ Able to commute to Michelman's Cincinnati, Ohio office
+ Able to work in chemical laboratory environment where personal protective equipment [PPE] may be required

+ Ability to plan experiments and perform mathematical calculations
+ Good work ethic, analytical, and observational skills
+ Proficient in standard business office software
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
+ Experience and success working in a team environment
Education and Experience
+ Working toward a Bachelor’s Degree in Science, preferably in chemistry, chemical engineering or packaging-related technologies
+ Chemistry lab experience preferred
+ Previous co-op or other academic/industrial lab experience a plus
