Position Overview:
The U.S. Chamber of Commerce seeks a strategic and media savvy Director of Communications to support the organization’s legal and policy communications, with a particular focus on litigation-related messaging. This person will work closely with the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center and the U.S. Chamber Institute for Legal Reform (ILR) to elevate the Chamber’s legal advocacy and reform efforts across traditional and digital platforms.
Responsibilities:
+ Litigation and Legal Reform Communications
+ Develop and execute communications strategies that support the Chamber’s litigation efforts and legal reform agenda.
+ Translate complex legal issues into compelling narratives for media, policymakers, and the public.
+ Collaborate with the U.S. Chamber Litigation Center and ILR to promote key cases, legal principles, and reform initiatives.
+ Media Relations and Executive Support
+ Pitch and secure media coverage in national, legal, and business outlets, including television, podcasts, and digital platforms.
+ Prepare senior executives and legal experts for media interviews, including message development, briefing materials, and on-camera coaching.
+ Monitor media coverage and manage rapid response efforts related to litigation and legal policy issues.
+ Multi-Platform Content Development
+ Create and manage content across earned, owned, and social media channels to amplify legal and policy messages.
+ Work with internal teams to ensure consistent messaging across platforms, including op-eds, blog posts, press releases, and social media.
+ Leverage data and analytics to refine messaging and improve audience engagement.
+ Cross-Functional Collaboration
+ Partner with colleagues in public affairs, legal, and policy departments to align communications with organizational priorities.
+ Support broader communications campaigns and initiatives as needed.
Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public policy, or a related field; a legal background or a J.D. is a plus.
+ 7+ years of experience in strategic communications, media relations, or public affairs, with a strong background in legal or litigation communications.
+ Demonstrated success in securing media placements and preparing spokespeople for high-stakes interviews.
+ Familiarity with the U.S. legal system, litigation trends, and the business community’s legal reform priorities.
+ Excellent writing, editing, and verbal communication skills.
+ Experience working in a fast-paced, high-profile environment with senior executives.
The salary range for this position is $107,900.00 to $120,000.00. The actual salary paid for this position will vary based on market data, an applicant’s qualifications, relevant degrees, certifications, and other factors. Our full-time employees are eligible for benefits, including health care, vision, dental, retirement, and paid leave.
