UPMC Lititz Hospital is hiring a full-time Surgical Technologist to join our exceptional Operating Room team!

In this hands-on role (7:00 AM - 3:30 PM, including weeknight, weekend, and holiday rotations), you'll be an essential part of the surgical team-preparing and maintaining sterile setups, passing instruments, and ensuring every procedure runs safely and smoothly.
You'll work alongside expert clinicians on a wide variety of cases, including general, plastics, orthopedics, and urology, gaining valuable experience with advanced surgical techniques and equipment.

Responsibilities:
+ Teach and mentor new employees and students in both technical skills and surgical theory.
+ Prepare the OR by setting up instruments, equipment, sterile supplies, and ensuring everything functions properly.
+ Assist in patient prep, including positioning, draping, and maintaining aseptic technique throughout procedures.
+ During surgery, efficiently pass instruments, handle retractors, cut sutures, manage sponges and counts, and ensure a safe, sterile field.
+ Support surgeons across a variety of specialties with strong technical knowledge and attention to detail.
+ Maintain and oversee specialty instruments, lasers, and supplies, coordinate repairs, orders, and equipment maintenance.
+ Serve as a Lead Tech-supervising daily workflow, resolving issues, and guiding surgical team members.
+ Manage specimens, apply dressings, and assist in transferring patients to recovery post-surgery.
+ Promote safety, cost efficiency, and continuous improvement in OR operations.
+ Collaborate effectively with surgeons, clinicians, and cross-functional teams to ensure exceptional patient care.
+ Serve as a trusted resource and preceptor for colleagues, supporting ongoing learning and professional development.
+ Completion of a formal surgical technician program offered by a community or junior college, vocational school, university, hospital or the military.
+ 3 years of current Operating Room experience required.
+ Advanced knowledge of at least 2 surgical specialists with 1 year experience in selected specialty desired.
+ Access to medications is limited to the distribution of the medication to the nurse.Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Certified Surgical Technologists (CST) OR Tech in Surgery-Certified (TSC)
+ Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
+ Act 33 with renewal
+ Act 34 with renewal
+ Act 73 FBI Clearance with renewal
