Road & Rail Services is hiring a Transfer Operator / Yard Dog for our Montgomery location. What You'll Do

As a Transfer Operator, your workday will be spent outdoors transferring bulk materials between railcars and tank trucks. You'll use pumps, hoses, and valves to move product safely, sometimes wearing full protective equipment. You'll climb railcars, work at heights, and handle heavy equipment - all while following strict safety procedures that keep you, your team, and the environment safe. Every transfer you complete is part of keeping America's supply chain moving.

As a Yard Dog Operator, you'll also:

Move trailers and tankers safely around the yard and to loading/unloading points using a yard tractor.

Inspect equipment for mechanical or safety issues before and after moves.

Coordinate with loaders and supervisors to ensure smooth flow of traffic in the yard.

Perform minor housekeeping and maintenance tasks to keep the work area organized and safe.

Operate safely at all times and follow FRA and company safety rules without exception.

This combined role offers variety and challenge - some days will focus more on transfer work, while others will emphasize yard movement depending on operational needs.

What We're Looking For

Prior outdoor labor or equipment operation experience (construction, yard hostler, warehouse, or similar)

Valid driver's license (CDL preferred but not required)

Reliable transportation – must be able to arrive on time every day

Willingness to work hard, learn new skills, and commit long term

Stable work history – frequent job changes are not a good fit for this role

Safety-first mindset and ability to follow detailed procedures
